Hi, my name is Leat, professional cellist and performer by trade with an interest in music, gardening and sharing stories. In this vlog I share about the deeper meaning behind these famous herbs mentioned in Scarborough Fair, a song made popular by the version of Simon & Garfunkel. I then put these herbs back into the context of the song, revealing a hidden layer of understanding behind this story.
I'll be uploading more videos, so go ahead and click Subscribe to keep updated! It's made with love, as I'm hoping to keep in touch with my followers and show you a bit of my world. Hope you are all safe during these times.

I so enjoyed going on this little journey with you through the garden. It is one of my all-time favorite songs - Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme. The melody just draws me in so quickly but I have to admit that I never once stopped to try to figure it all out. It was a delightful journey with you and I appreciate you sharing it with us. You may have stumbled across a little treasure here. I really liked the little twist you gave at the end about what is true love: patient, kind, long suffering, etc...it really should be about the love we have to give......Thank you for including us in on your garden walk. :)

At 5:31-37 Find me an acre of land, parsley sage rosemary and thyme between the salt water and the sea......... In conclusion the commenter says that this song (which is actually a remake of a Mideaval English song), is lacking in love. Simon and Garfunkel became very popular in the 1960s, and might be remembered by older generation now from their song "Sound of Silence" , ......and the sign said the words of the Prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls.........

Un grand merci Leat , c'est charmant comme tout cette exégèse musicale illustrée. je connaissais par coeur cette belle chanson sans en rien comprendre ( à cause de mon anglais approximatif et de mon ignorance) plein d'affection.

Thats a nice Interpretation, but another is, that they are singing about abortion, because parsley sage rosemay and thyme cause the uterus to contract. Also the seamles Shirt could represent a last shirt for the grave. To be honest this Interpretation is not compleately clear to me, but it is in my experience common that medival songs are sometimes really dark and can have many meanings, because the people back then had a different worldwiev then we have now.
