You probably could have just gone out one of the emergency exits, which would be probably located in the service corridors. But I think the main doors should always be unlocked from the inside as well.

this actually happened to me once, one day i was going with my aunt, brother, and my grandma, when we entered, i wasnt really scared, but i realized we were staying there long, i started asking for us to go, but they didnt, once it looked dark outside, my heart started beating until the blind thingys covered the exit, now my heart was racing, i was begging for us to go, but we didnt until we did, when we did, it was empty, there was no people, and the entrance we came from was blocked, now i started crying, once i went up the escalator, i couldnt find escalator down, so i ran down the stairs and then we went out a exit, now me and my aunt was lookung for the car, we went down a street but we didnt see a sign saying its number. so then we used that finding car app, and that ment we have to walk around, it even started thundering, so once we found it and everyone was inside, we headed home, but i was still panicked, and it was pitch black outside, once wee entered the house i ate dinner then went to bed
