Someone in the comments dared to claim this 2024 team is better than our 84 championship team😂😂 Now, I'm not hating on my current team but COME ON.......the 1984 Tigers were in a class all by themselves. This team can't touch 84.....nor any other Tigers postseason team. We're taking about a team that started the year 35-5 and at one point were on pace to win over 125 games that year. The 84 team was SO friggen dominant that The Tigers were.....and get this......100-0 when leading after 8 innings. We led the league in runs with over 800, led the league in home runs and we had the most dominant closer in the game who won BOTH the Cy Young Award AND the MVP. Also set a franchise record in wins with 104....honestly that's a number the 2006 Tigers SHOULD have eclipsed, they were over 40 games over 500 at the beginning of August when that legendary collapse began....we "only" finished with 95 wins, but that team should have eclipsed that number. Actually, a better argument can be made that it's the 2006 Tigers team that gave the 84 team a run for the money, not this 2024 team. They can win it all this year for sure, but they really don't have anything on 68.....84.....87......2006 ......and 2011-2014..... This 2024 team is a completely different kind of team than any Tigers team we've had before. But yeah, 84 is it......I don't think there's any Tigers fan out there who doesn't recognize that famous picture of Kirk Gibson with his hands in the air after hitting a MASSIVE demoralizing home run off of Goose Gossage that completely deflated San Diego......Goose, ya PROBABLY should have listened to your manager Dick Williams' advice and walked Gibson 😂😂😂😂
