Sounds like the locker was a case of use it or lose it. While searching to find my gen 3 4runner I ran into an 01 limited that was almost perfect and at a great price.....dealer was upfront in the listing about the issue with the 4wd indicator light blinking but he was told by his mechanic that it was just the light that was malfunctioning. Second test drive (he told me to have fun for the weekend with it) I found out with the phone camera under the car check that it was stuck in 4wd. Damn transfer case actuator was probably gummed up from not being activated at least once a month. Luckily a little over a month later I somehow found a 98 5 speed that was in excellent shape from a private seller who didn't want to upcharge like crazy just for the stick (in fact this would have been a steal at the price even for an automatic considering how little frame rust it had and how well the engine was running). No locker (I want to see if I can mod it with the factory elocker eventually) but damn she goes places I'm still surprised about just keeping her in 4lo and 1st gear (40:1 crawl ratio just stock with the 4.10 diffs). Granted this is my first high clearance 4x4 so everything surprises me at this point.

Truck looks killer. Had no idea that the compressor could rotate like that. Pretty cool design!

Lol I'm scared to build mine out too much. My 98 isn't going to be trailer queen and will get used at least 2-3 times a week for in town stuff (have a work supplied vehicle for on the clock stuff thankfully so I don't have to burn out my clutch on daily commutes). Hell I just bought it 3 weeks ago and all it really has beyond stock is 31.5" tires and a 2" spacer lift and I'm amazed the trails she tackles (granted I'm a total newbie to 4x4 high clearance so I think everything about this amazes me lol). So far I'm thinking (beyond replacing a few aftermarket parts in my front end back to OEM), swap the spacer lift for a proper spring lift and throw in some 5100s (Also buy and find someone to weld in the panhard bracket extensions), skids and sliders and a simple front tube bumper so I can mount a winch. I want to keep her looking mostly stock and, more importantly, close to stock weight. Only other thing I can think to do is see if I can find a factory elocker to put on it.
