The hand pump with the pressure gauge you might want to look into it is for bleeding air out of lines when you are doing a brake job by yourself, it also works with bleeding your clutch

I think the shrink wrap was to keep the dust out, a little protection from storing it for who knew how long. What they wanted protected got the shrink wrap, what they didn't really care about didn't get shrink wrapped. lol, I remember my first computer from 1997 with a 500 mb hard drive and the salesman saying, You'll never need another computer with this baby. hahahahaha, now a 500 mb flash disk is basically obsolete.
