Locker Nuts episode 566
Lockers are like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're going to get! I'm digging through boxes and boxes from the estate I purchased recently, and I never know if it's going to hold treasures or junkola. One note catches me off guard... "do not open" it says. Are we going to listen? Heck no!
This is part 14 of the "6 Locker Estate" series.

Jack, I would encourage you to take the box of glass bottles to the vintage market. Those little bottles are Antique and collectors go to markets looking for them. I think, like the train lockers, these estate lockers...you got your work cut out for you and it will take some time to sell it all.

That 'warming pitcher' is an electric kettle! We use them a lot in the UK. 🇬🇧 Perfect for boiling water really quickly, ready to make a nice cup of tea! 😄😉
@janetburke2739
@janetburke2739 2 жыл бұрын
Liz Richardson: Those electric kettles are handy to have. for years. I got one (a different brand) as a gift a few months ago. Now my comments about Jack's "warming pitcher" incident: I immediately yelled NO! when I saw Jack put aside the "warming pitcher" THEN THREW AWAY WHAT LOOKED LIKE ITS ELECTRIC CORD that was rolled up in a cardboard T.P. tube INSIDE THE KETTLE! (I don't think he heard me, as I am about few hundred miles south of where he is.) Well, I don't know if its an impulsive "guy thing" or not (like not reading directions, lol). Did he take five seconds to check the cord? NO. And maybe the missing kettle lid was in there, did he look? NO. JACK: I don't say this to be mean, I am trying to be helpful. I love your KZbin channel and greatly respect your work ethics and values. But sometimes you need to slow down a little, think, and pay a little more attention. If the kettle had its cord, you could test it to heat up some water and if it worked, you could have probably made a few bucks on it at a flea market, even with it missing a lid. The electric kettles are useful for making tea, instant coffee, instant oatmeal, instant noodle and soup cups, etc. I hope there's no hard feelings.

@@janetburke2739 I think if it had its lid, Jack might have thought a bit longer! 😉 It's easy to make a quick decision if you're not sure what you have, I've often watched and thought noooo... when Jack has thrown things away, but as I'm so far away, there's nothing I can do! 😆 Enjoy your kettle Janet! I hope it lasts you many years! 🙂

@Liz Richardson Well, maybe Jack was overcome with the heat that day. They do get hot (and probably more humid) in the summer up in Northern California. It's just after 10:30 am, I'm down here in desert-like Los Angeles County and it's already 80 degrees Fahrenheit, humidity 44%. We have already turned on our air-conditioning system. How is your weather in the U.K.? My hubby and I are going to take a drive to Corona del Mar/Newport Beach about 70 miles away (the trip is almost all on freeways) to a special hummingbird event at a commercial garden facility. They have hummingbird exhibits and select blooming plants --native and otherwise-- that hummingbirds love to drink nectar from. We love hummingbirds and put out nectar in feeder bottles for them, and we would love to improve our balcony garden with a hummingbird's favorite flower plant. Have a great weekend!
@lizrichardson3309
@lizrichardson3309 2 жыл бұрын
@@janetburke2739 Let's hope it was the heat that day! It's almost 10 pm here and still warm at about 18°C (64°F) it was around 26°C earlier today, but I was cool in our local church where we had a wedding! The church is a medieval building and has been in the village for over 700 years, it's lovely and cool in the summer, but freezing cold in the winter! 😄 We don't have air conditioning in our homes usually, but we do have lovely warm days in the summer months and are expecting the temperature to get to the mid 30'sC in the next few weeks. I think I'm going to have to find more cool places to be! Enjoy your hummingbirds, I have been lucky enough to see some on my travels, they are such lovely birds!

I use to own a store specializing in Magic. the writing could be one of two things. 1) Artis autographs, or 2) there was a format that was popular in late 90's where the two players would put up an "anti" card and the winner of the match would either write or draw on the losing "anti" card. WoW those Highlander cards brough back memories, I really loved that game. I use to hold tournaments for Highlander in my store.

Hi Jack, you sure have a lot to get through. I just want to add with all do respect to you, hoarding is a mental illness. I understand there is a lot "junk" kept by the previous owner of the locker, but at some point in his mind that was going to be used and provided comfort. I have a friend who is a hoarder. Unfortunately, he went through a lot of trauma and has ptsd. Surrounding himself with "things & stuff" is a comfort for him. Not healthy for sure but requires treatment and therapy. I just wanted to say that. You are entertaining and Im looking forward to seeing more of your finds.

It looks like you had a couple people already tell you but definitely don't judge the magic cards on what little bit you've been told. Older cards don't have color coated rarity symbols. Some of the most valuable magic cards are old and have a ordinary black symbol. Also most of the time when cards are signed its by the artist. Check the bottom left of the card and see if that's who signed it. Many signatures from old cards have alot of value. Theres a Facebook group that you can join and they will authenticate the signatures and possibly buy what you have . Magic came out in 1993. So look for those dates. Even though there's huge value in all years.
