With the brand new plush you don't want, you can donate them to toys for tots (basically they have to be new condition) at least in the area I'm in, they started collecting October 1st. (Gonna donate 3 large reusable bags and 3 medium reusable bags full of donations tomorrow. I basically decided late spring to start looking for sealed toys when I go to thrift stores and let them accumulate over the course of the year. Next year will be the first full year worth of stuff) they also accept new condition books.

You might want to consider donating things like pencils, tablets, craft items to teachers. A lot of teachers have small or no budgets and end up paying for supplies out or their own pockets.

Seeing this video I just think how you can use several of the boxes :- I volunteer to prepare poor country schools and each autumn we fill backpacks so I think a lot of the stuff you find could be helpful for schools. Not only the notebooks or pens but the small purses /wallets /etc too, are useful in schools to keep the small stuff together.

Sharper Image games are sold at Walgreens. The leggings you found are also from Walgreens. They probably hit a great clearance sale. I used to buy like that for prizes for my church's gift auction fundraiser. I once hit a 90% off sale at a Kmart toy department, and loaded the car for $35.

What I was thinking. My church had packing parties where we'd donate "stuff" and come and pack boxes. Covid put an end to those but I used to buy stuff like this and use it for shoeboxes. Once I even scored a giant bucket of mardi gras beads for about a penny each. If that. Kids love them, they can't swallow the beads, and OCC used to love seeing them in the boxes.

Looks more like a reseller to me. In our family we have members that buy tons of stuff like that. Then they ship it to the Dominican Republic. They hop on a plane, meet the shipment and sell everything, new and used. The used clothes were all folded so neatly. Between Covid and the shipping fiasco in the Suez Canal, you can’t ship like you used to.

With all the school supplies and backpacks, I wonder if the owner planned to pack backpacks for needy kids. Even socks and gloves could have been added, as well as the candy. Actually all the multiples could have been for purposes of giveaways. I don't think this was alll just a typical shopaholic hoard.

Looks like a walgreens seasonal clearance shopper, I’ve done that. Hit it at the right time you can get stuff 75 to 90% off. A few years back I bought about 60 Halloween themed Funko pops for $1.19 each The Equestria girls dolls are worth $15-$25 each. I just sold a two doll set at De Anza for 50 bucks, and that was cheap. Six year old chocolate has probably gone stale even in the bags. I’ve eaten some. The candy that has no chocolate is probably still good, although any gummy’s are probably like rocks.

I would see if your kids are interested in starting a small EBay store maybe just selling movies. You basically just flea market them because it's not worth it for you but it would be a great way for them to make money. Going through my old dvds at home a lot were only 5 bucks but you would get the odd one worth 20+. It didn't seem to make sense the ones that held value.

The person was not necessarily a 'hoarder'. They were charitable. Back to school supplies are out of reach for the budgets of many who struggle for housing and food. The backpacks are filled with the pens, pencils, crayons and notebooks as well as the socks and mitts. Give them to your church as you mentioned but there are many agencies who fill them for the general community. I don't know who that 'shopaholic' is but I think they have/had a giving heart. Hi to you and your beautiful family from Canada.

Good grief. I see piles of stuff for toy drives, Operation Christmas Child (if y'all participate), backpack projects (my church does them annually) etc. The expired candy might well stll be edible in most cases, although I would NOT eat Twizzlers at this point. A local social center for kids does a Christmas store every year, where they sell donations for low prices to families. The money goes to fund a summer camp for the same kids.
