Some of you will remember i got my honda crv for the bargain price of 500 euro, but, it came with some issues obviously, no locking lug nut removal tool was one of them issues, among many others! but, that's not a big issue, so i have this locking wheel nut removal kit from sealey, it works well for wheel lock nut removal but removing the nut from the sealey locking wheel nut removal kit is not easy as you will see in this video, but, you will also see a few ways i have removed the lug nut from this sealey reverse threaded socket, so, please enjoy the video.

I lost the key off my '09 Altima Coupe. Instead of going out and buying one of these I used my 3/4" drive 12 point Craftsman 3/4" socket. Smacked it on each one about 1/2", put my breaker bar on and BAM, off they all came! I put the 3/4" socket over a deep well socket that the removed lock lug nut was stuck in. Put a long 1/2" bolt through the square part, smacked it with a hammer and out the lock nut would come. It literally took 15 minutes to do all 4 and the Craftsman still looked brand new when I was done. Piece of cake. Thanks for the video though!

Yeah a good strong 12 point will work perfectly, but a weak 12 point will shatter with the smack of a hammer. Good job. 👍

Great trick. I already knew all I needed was a screw/stud to take the nut out. I never imagined this because I don't have any hubs laying around. But great video for people who can get a hold of one.

Yeah they are difficult to get out, you could get some bolts the same size as the studs. Drill holes in a block of wood, put the bolts in and it's kinda the same as using a hub.

I keep one of my 1/2 Drive extensions for whacking. Saves hitting the socket directly

If I remember correctly, you're not supposed to hammer these all the way on. It's the 'shock' of the nut tightening that helps loosen the wheel nut. That's why you have to use an impact wrench not a breaker bar. It's not about torque?

I'm not too sure to be honest, i heard the same that you just use an impact on it and the vibration plus you pushing just loosens it off but it wasn't working with my first one so i hammered it on a bit. I didn't hammer it all the way, i just done it a little to get the bite on it.

Your welcome, if you are having this same issue, someone told me if you still have the serial number from your lock nuts you can buy a new set the same and the key will fit. Or you could use a 12 sided socket its easier to remove them from that.

If you obtain the same thread bolt and put in a vise you can undo it . Use a high tensile bolt.

FYI...it wasn't the tool that caused the lugnut to snap off, it was the stud bottoming out in the end of the nut forcing the end of the nut to push the end off. Next time put a few washers over the stud to shorten up the throw.

If yours has rotating collars. Wedge the collar to stop it spinning. Drill a start hole between collar and centre. Then use a pointed chisel to split the collar and remove. Again using a suitable tool or socket to remove the lock nut.

Great video,I have the same 3 pack removal tool,one other method i sometimes use is get a scrap length of steel,get out the stick welder (7018) rod,,you need the strength and zap the lock to the metal,,,bye bye lock nut!

You can cut the ring off with a chisel and then hammer on the extractor and then use the hammer drill

I have just had to remove one and I used the same type, it removed the nut but like you said the problem is now I'm struggling to get the nut out of the removing tool.

If you haven't got a hub, find a long bolt with the same thread and pitch and clamp a little stub out of a old vice and thread it onto that.

Once you get the lug nut off cut the edges off and use a breaker bar and pipe wrench to remove lug nut from socket

200NM may work but the more the better, just depends on how tight the nut is on?

Good mate but I have a Peugeot locknut, thanks to quick fit it's wrecked a week later still not sorted so body suggested welding a nut on, so going to try that, twist on, s I don't think will do it because oof 1/2 inch stud left with about 1/8 inch backing plate not enough to bite on, anyone got better idea I, d be grateful. You can try a 12 point socket, I've seen people remove them with them too, kinda works the same way as these sealey. But use a slightly smaller 12 point and wedge it on. Welding or cutting that close to your wheeel, can damage your wheel's.

Hey, when you've took the wheel off, surely you can remove it by screwing it back onto your car hub (like you did here on the old hub) the socket should then unscrew the same (maybe put 1 wheel nut on the same stud first, to back it up) then remove the chewed up locking nut off the stud with a monkey wrench, simples - who needs an old hub? 🤔

Yes well i used the old hub because I knew it could get stuck on the hub of my car so i didn't chance that, id rather not have that headache, but also when i remove it but couldn't remove it from the socket when i would try to remove it on the car it was getting stuck again and a vice grips wasn't even able to remove it.

@@GPTV2020 they are the same. I lost mine for my Honda accord recently, but luckily had the packet in the glove box with the 4 regular bolts in. I went online for a Honda parts place, and boom they do them, just had to give them the ref number. You see there are actually not all different, just maybe 100 variants

They are very hard to remove the nut from, iv see a 12 point socket used and it is easier to use.

Just use a socket that snug and hammer on with sum super glue and they will come right off, saves you money
