Have you ever wondered what it would be like to paddle your kayak through a dam lock? In this episode we take a tour with Chattanoga Guided Adventures and they take us through the Chickamauga Dam. We start out on the Chickamauga Reservoir and through the lock. As the water empties the lock we are lowered 45 feet to the Tennessee River below.

I was the first through the lock back in 1976. I locked upriver in a Lettmann mk.4 whitewater boat. The lock master took photos but I 'be never seen them.

Why no SOT kayaks allowed ?

No SOT or SUPs because they prefer you to be in a craft, they don't want people having easy access to the water. I guess swimming in the lock is a big deal
