Phil Lesh is my favourite rock bassist. if you listen to this with some good headphones and close your eyes you can hear him up and down the scales driving the music. Been a big fan of him for ever. Lovely player.

I've seen Chris Robinson sing this song many times at Terrapin with Phil. The soloists sound tepid here. But Chris Robinson is not the problem. Listen to CR @ 4:50 to the end. No way John Mayer can come close, and I like John Mayer's Althea.

Used to be that way. He's lost a ton through the years. He's actually had to adjust how he sings, so the soul is been stripped down a bit. His 1996/1997 vocals ain't coming back.

Yeah... I've now heard Mayer sing this a ton of different times and Chris Robinsons vocals here are nowhere near as good as Mayers, and Mayer can kill it on the solos. I wouldn't really care if Chris hadn't been a complete dick and talk shit about Bob's choice of Mayer for Dead and Co. Sorry Chris, you're vocals here are just sub-par.
