Some locks just have no business being as hard to pick as they are. It took me quite a few attempts to get this one on camera and I’m still not quite sure why! 🔐

I have the same cylinder and I picked with spooxe dimple flag/not on camera!, on camera I can't concentrate! 😂📸. The funny thing is after that I picked I try with worm rake 00.15 thick😂, and I succeed! 😂 Anyway Nice picking!

Even unprepared & having a frustrating day, your videos are awesome & educational. Love your transparency. Thank you for showing.
@bikkies Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry about seeming unprepared. It makes your videos feel far more spontaneous and authentic. When I see videos where everything is set out like an operating theatre and where the lock opens in one pass down the keyway, they feel rehearsed. Those are still useful when the viewer is in hurry or has a short attention span, but they aren't really my preference.

I think most people in the lockpicking community are honest. I don't see many dimple locks in north america. I would never fake a video, personally. But it is possible. And i could see how people could and do would. Its unfortunate but happens. Hope everyone is staying safe and taking care

I'm with you on the spools, I'm still fighting an Abus 32/70, they just keep dropping after I pick the next one. Glad you posted, yes it's frustrating but getting that open feels so much better on tougher locks.

13:40 You made my day. Today i bought an yale 1500 and couldn't open it so i dissasampled it and practice with that. When i opened it it came out The Front(i was în bed while doing this stupid thing) and the driver Pins Fell into the holes not populate with keypins. Have any tips for this situation?

Great job as usual =) Lock wich you messed up with traped pin is actualy reparable, just need to drill hole under the spring - pin and traped pin will pop down. After that you can close that hole with metalic epoxy and lock will be funcional again. I did that trick more than one time.
@LockNoob Жыл бұрын
Yeah! I might drill and repair it

Maybe set one up with some of those tapers, AND some spools! How would you set up what you would consider a very difficult lock to pick?
@j.gabriel8573 Жыл бұрын
The Paclock 90a pro spools have dual personalities, one side of the spools are squared and flat at sheer line, turn them around and it's tapered and it has a.slight rounded bottom that's below the sheer line. I can tell a big difference when I change them around and the tapered end is definitely harder
@uncle_thulhu Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'd always wondered how to gut one of those.
@brianhignett8954 Жыл бұрын
Hi Lock Noob, couldn't agree more. Some viewers, I'm sure, are disappointed when seeing a lock gutted, and there's no "security pins". The common old spools actual help single pin picking - you know when they are set. Flat bottomed drivers often click when setting, but good old bevelled drivers, coupled with good lock tolerances, require a lot more attention to finally set - and they set gradually and softly. Bevelled key pins, and particularly bevelled drivers, plus good tolerances, make locks harder to spp. Early Aussie Lockwoods come to mind. It's a wonder that more lock manufacturers don't combine bevelled drivers and spools but I guess spping is not common in the real world.
@KeylessEntry Жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more. Spools offer so much feedback whereas tapered/beveled are much less generous. Speaking of Lockwoods I gutted an old rim cylinder and it had these very tapered drivers that I hadn’t seen before. The taper was only on one side but ran up 1/3 the height of the pin, it was as hard as picking an Assa/Ruko with tapered pins.
@LockNoob Жыл бұрын
Hey Brain! Tesa and Lockwood do great tapers and so do TSS. The thing is, tapers need a well made lock to be effective and sadly some other brands just don’t do them justice. I’ve always found tapers hard personally

similar effect of tapered pins was with decades old FAB cylinders like 2016, 2018 models (Czech Republic) i had to pick them egain again and again...

IMHO, tapered pins are not harder to pick, the just take longer. A lot longer. I never tried that French lock, that could change my mind.

Longer can equate to harder in a way though
