Why does it have to be put in a wooden box.. why not just put it in a live bottom semi like how they harvest potatoes/ beets in the Midwest

Thanks for the question! We allow the sweet potatoes to hang under the belted chain with the vines on top. Then this belted chain is run through a series of 2 rollers, one large roller over the belted chain and a smaller one under the belted chain. The smaller roller is offset to the rear of the top roller. This pulls the potatoes off when the belted chain rods run between them. In traditional potato harvest, a windrower is normally used as the first step. This is not done during sweet potato harvest.
