Yes to the peppermint oil! I use 2 drops of peppermint oil + 3 drops of lavender oil to my shampoo. I use a sulfate free clarifying shampoo, and sometimes I add in about a tablespoon of aloe vera juice to increase the moisture if needed. My favorite carrier oil is Jojoba oil. Your locs are progressing beautifully!

You are spot on about the peppermint oil. I haven't started my loc journey yet. I am in my research stage which led me to you. However, I have been wearing single braids for the last 2.5 years. Lately, though, my scalp has been itching me so badly, that I was about to see a doctor about it. Anyway, I had some peppermint oil in the cupboard that I previously used for a stomach ache, and thought, let me drop that on my scalp and see what happens. Girl! I was astonished. Not only did it stop the itching, but after a few days, I noticed that the braids had grown away from the scalp significantly in a short space of time as well. So, I now have faster-growing hair, no itching and a super cool, medicated menthol feeling going on at my roots. The only thing to point out is, I didn't actually mix mine with anything. I was so desperate, that I just put it straight onto my scalp, although I'm not suggesting that anyone else does the same. I think my scalp is super tough so could handle it, but sensitive scalps may not.

I only have a itchy scalp right after a fresh retie I just use hair grease yes I use hair grease it is the only product that keeps my scalp moisturize for at least 3 days I tried oils but I have to keep using them all the time & before anyone say anything I drink water everyday some of us just have a drier hair and scalp then others
@JOSETTEBIANCA3 жыл бұрын
Ohh wow, well all that matters is that your scalp is moisturized and you don’t have buildup issues. I know how annoying a dry scalp can be 😩
@solangeWilliams3 жыл бұрын
Yup I agree!!! I use oil way too much cause my scalp is so dry and I drink half a gallon of water a day and it doesn't make a difference. I might start using grease myself

solange Williams ikr people think drinking water is the solution to everything which for some of us it doesn’t change anything water only keeps my insides in good condition

Rosemary is my favorite essential oil, peppermint is a close second. I use them with sunflower oil

I have rosemary oil as well, but I haven’t used it enough to know how it works for me. And I haven’t tried sunflower oil!
