A road trip from Wanaka to Queenstown in Southern New Zealand. It passes through the famous Crown Range road route with its sweeping vistas and hairpin turns.
April 2nd, 2019
"Crown Range Road is a memorable journey located in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. It’s an exhilarating road with hairpin bends, serpentines and steep grades.
This asphalted road (formerly State Highway 89) is 68km long. It connects Queenstown with Wanaka. This drive is not for the faint hearted and several of the bends are actual hairpins bends. The drive on the descent drops away to a seemingly bottomless gorge."
"Located within the Crown Range, it’s one of the highest roads of the country reaching an altitude of 1.121m (3,677ft) above the sea level. Along the way you should also allow time to stop and admire the massive views. The views along the road are simply stunning and spectacular and the driving is well worth it - with absolutely spectacular views over Queenstown. The views are so breathtaking. Many stops to get out and enjoy the views and take photos. The descent from the Crown Range into the alpine valley below provides the most breathtaking late afternoon views."
"The adventure capital of New Zealand, Queenstown, the South Island’s magnetic mountain resort, thrives on adrenaline. Site of the first commercial bungee-jumping operation - established in 1988 over the Kawarau River - Queenstown is the place to test your courage by jumping off, flying over or skimming above things. During the winter (June through September), visitors flock to four ski areas in the surrounding Southern Alps. The rest of the year, Queenstown serves as the gateway to Mount Aspiring National Park, Fiordland National Park in the west, and countless hikes, including multiday treks on the Milford, Routeburn Greenstone and Caples tracks. In March, the beginning of fall, the crowds have eased but the weather is still great for outdoor adventures."
"Wanaka is located on the southern shores of Lake Wanaka, in west Otago. Embraced by the Southern Alps, Wanaka is Otago's second resort town after Queenstown.
The crystal-clear waters of Lake Wanaka, New Zealand's fourth largest lake, reflect the snow-capped peaks of Mount Aspiring National Park. Here you can absorb the unstoppable beauty of pristine wilderness, and know that it will be easy to find a great restaurant for dinner. You don't have to be a mountaineer to enjoy the delights of the park (although any one of a dozen world-class local guides can accompany you to the top).
The township of Wanaka is a magnet for visitors who want to find the perfect combination of outdoor adventure and indoor luxury. There are comfortable places to stay, great shops and eateries-and all the time there's the call of the wild. The lake, mountains and around-the-year events calendar will keep you looking forward to tomorrow.
The seasons are particularly noticeable in Wanaka. Spring (October - December) brings an abundance of blossom. Summer brings cloudless, hot, sunny days (January - March). Autumn brings splendid colours of gold and red (April - June), Winter brings crisp days, and snow lovers can enjoy huge freedom the mountain slopes (July - September)."

I have driven this road since the 1980's, have been driven on this road since the 1970's, when it was all gravel. Used to get a metre of snow on the side of the road, but those days are now gone. I worked at the Cardrona ski resort and panned for gold in the valley. My Great-Great-Great Uncle once owned the Cardrona Hotel. Is much greener than it used to be. Global warming probably started here, in New Zealand, first. I remember what our Winter's and Autumns used to be like, and it never happens now, in fact if the ski fields don't have snow makers, then they usually don't open for long if at all. Love Central Otago. Going there tomorrow.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. We're booked for a New Zealand trip next year (Covid permitting) and I've been leery about the driving. Watching the video has eased my worries. In your video, it depicted roads and scenery similar to our Canadian roads. Just gotta remember to drive on the left.

Today is the day of salvation John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

The description is lying why is this road not got chip stones as all new Zealand roads now have be layer with at least 3 materials first tar second ashpelt third Chip stone and if it was in a street then there will be a fourth layer called road marking they will do that outside every single house because residents don't have the right of way to park on the street only essential services and contractors no one else and the no one else also includes family and friends as they can do the same as the homeowners and use the driveway.
