While at the National Cornbread Festival, Mr. and Mrs. Cast Iron had to tour and review the outlet store. We didn’t have to search very long for some great bargains either. The S. Pittsburg Tn. store also advertises online, but we got a first-hand look at all the factory seconds on hand, not to mention all of the other items in the store. Plus, we picked up a skillet or two, if you can believe that!!?? lol!

Well here in Texas we have Fredericksburg cast iron that opened not to long ago, amazing quality products. I picked up, (literally) some very old Griswald cast iron in a building scheduled to be demolished. It was a second hand store in the 70s. Once in a long while I stumble on something good

The quality is excellent on it and the people who own the company have been cooking with cast iron a very long time. They have given classes on how to use it properly and Clean and store it. I'm 60 and my granny taught me how to cook in cast iron. It's all we had. A lot of younger people are lost when it comes to cast iron. I have two pieces that came from Ireland with my great granny. 1 is deep and square. It's my cornbread pan.

That’s interesting! I’d love to see your granny's pan. I bet it does make good cornbread. You are right about the younger generation too. That’s another reason why I make these videos is to help someone that doesn’t know that much about cast iron.

Yes, Patrick, we went to the National Cornbread Festival this year and had a blast! We were so amazed at all the vendors that were there! And to top it all off, we toured the factory store! I had to keep a close rein on Mrs. CI, though, if you know what I mean!!??

The first thought that came to mind was, is this heaven? No it's the lodge outlet store in Tennessee. Great video! We have a griddle that belonged to my wife's great grandmother. A little warped but has cooked up many years of bacon and eggs and biscuits.

This was one of my stops when I was down there in 2018. I've got quite a few pieces of the Lodge cast iron and got some seconds while I was there. I'm hoping to get there again soon. I live in Appleton Wisconsin so its a bit of a trek down there.

The "seconds" items go for a little less than you'd find them at Wally World, but the selection here is far greater. Wally World's prices have slowly gone up. Ten years ago the 12-inch skillet sold there for $15; now it's over $20. Possibly the best thing to find at the Lodge outlet store: lids!

@@MrCastIron I get my lodge off kijiji , local thrift stores but I did buy one new Canadian edition skillet new at a drug store $20 cheaper than Bass pro. I like modern lodge. Also if I see antique cast at thrift stores I'll buy it clean it up reseason it then sell it again. I just prefer newer lodge it's non stick if you use right and isn't slippery like older cast. It's just my preference plus I wouldn't feel bad if I wreck modern cast lol.

Thank you for bringing me there. What a cool store! I have a question; my stove is a small apartment sized propane stove. Is there anything I can put on my burner that will disperse the heat to a bigger circle? The flame is only about 4" across. I can not heat the entire bottom of my cast iron pans.

I think you could place it over the burner with your skillet on top of it and heat it enough to get the job done.
