I would be tempted to start with a vertical cut straight down the middle, then diagonals as far out as possible meeting that one. Did you ever try it that way?

Yes, that works too. its a little faster than the first method I showed but not as fast as the plunge-cut method.

@@ProjectHighlander Yeah, you've got it down. They tell you not to cut with the tip for safety sake, or bar wear, but clearly with soft wood and a sharp chain you can plunge. Great videos. Thanks.
