I was born in Logan and lived with my grandparents at Holden 5 & 6 for a short while. My grandpa was killed in a mine accident in 1968 which was the first time I ever saw my dad cry. A lot of good memories from that time that I will not forget.

Born in Logan. Grandfather and Great Grandfather were coal miners. Used to love downtown Logan’s two movie theaters. Movies on Saturday and bowling on Sunday.

My great-grandfather Elbert Burgess my grandmother Alfreda Burgess (Adkins) my grandfather James Ray Adkins my mother was born there and all of my aunts and uncle. Logan county West. I see my family's name 5 of them on the Buffalo Creek disaster. I am the first generation born in Indiana. I have never been to Logan West Virginia to see where my roots come from someday I will visit there.

Several years ago there was a program on the History Channel about the Buffalo Creek disaster of 1972. It was narrated by someone from my home town of Mount Hope. His name is Jack Spadaro.

Hi Pamela. it's funny you mention Henlawson. I haven't heard that name in years but my mom and my aunt who are from Logan talk about it often. I grew up in Ohio and I always thought it was such a funny name for a town but watching these videos and remembering my mom's stories of where she grew up is really special now that she's older.
