I guess I'm in the minority here, but I believe the response to Paul was appropriate. There is no way to justify, or downplay what he did. He used the corpse of a guy who committed suicide as a prop for views, showed it, and flaunted it to his audience of little kids, and only after public outcry did he remove the video and apologize for it. In all honesty, I don't give a damn about his apology. How do you just say "Oh my god, I'm REALLY sorry, please forgive me" in a situation like this? People really are saying that they don't understand why people were so pissed at him, or why people bitched at him, and that's a crying shame. Also, "stop snitching" is an incredibly stupid thing to say in a situation like this. If no one "snitched" Logan would have just gotten away with it, and did something even more disturbing. In fact "stop snitching" in general is stupid as fuck. Why would anyone demonize someone speaking out against something that's wrong?

If so, then yes. All of their videos should be taken down. If they're presenting them like a legit documentary, then no. Make no mistake with this. If Logan was shooting a documentary style video where he was talking about the suicide forest, and he showed the dead body, I'd be defending him.

Unless you're a paragon of morality, there are people on youtube who would have things banned that you don't think deserve it. I say - live and let live. As long as someone isn't causing serious harm, leave him alone. Well I don't think people were really outraged by Logan Paul having a dead body as his thumbnail, it was more about the fact that youtube was allowing his video to stay on trending and still receive ad revenue, all while other youtubers were getting their videos demonetized and kept off of the trending page becuase they said a bad word or used words in their title that aren't ad friendly.

The issue with Elsagate wasn't that these channels were making offbrand disney cartoons; they were making offbrand disney cartoons with the characters being sexual assaulted and getting pissed on. It is borderline porn that was heavily aimed at children where the creators put zero thought into what those children watched. Worse, some videos were promoted and approved on KZbin Kids. Some stuffed shouldn't be on this website like porn, fight footage, snuff and terrorist recruitment videos. Even if some racy cartoons could stay, being promoted is something else. Also, please tell me: which popular KZbinr who isn't some poor animator in India is making content similar to this?

Devils advocate here if you want to hear a few counter points. It's really TL;DR though. I think you're saying most of this stuff as an outsider because you didn't have to deal with the demonetization issues. It's not that people were being salty because they were being paid less, it's about not being able to even swear in their videos without risking demonitization. Imagine losing an entire week's paycheck because you let slip a "damn" in a hushed whisper after stubbing your toe. Then busts in your co-worker being late to work as usual and yells "HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU FUCKING FUCKERS ON THIS FUCKING DAY OF FUCKING FUCKERY!" while not only getting a standing ovation from your boss but also getting a raise every time. It keeps getting worse until one day said coworker comes in carrying a dead body over their shoulder and says "I FOUND MY NEW GIRL FRIEND!" the boss does their usual thing and only snaps out of the haze once you scream at them that you're going to call the police. The rules were not being enforced at all with people like Logan Paul and they kept getting worse and worse until a fucking dead body is uploaded. I don't care who you are, but that shit is fucked up. And if you had looked into this at more than a glance then you'd realize that not only Logan Paul had planned on it but he was banking on sympathy subscriptions because the guy is a literal ghoul. That body hanging from a tree wasn't a human being to him, it was a god damn prop. People weren't mad about him making more money but they were mad about someone who not only completely broke the rules but did it in a very sick and very twisted way. The next thing, the "Reaction" channels. Imagine going to work and doing your best, putting in your best day of work. This entire time someone is sitting in a chair watching you with glazed eyes and then just leaves about twenty minutes after you clock out. This goes on for an entire week and when the boss comes in to hand out paychecks, you wonder why yours is so low while the guy who did literally nothing got a paycheck at all until the boss says that they were doing the extra work when it's far from the truth. The "grey area of copyright" thing is only part of the point. They were not only stealing videos without permission but they were also not crediting the people so they couldn't see who made the video in the first place. Lastly because this comment is very TL;DR already is the toy channel comment. There was a lot of child abuse going on and because of a manipulation of the already broken algorithm it allowed for kids watching fetish-porn-tier videos. You should really do a bit of research on it.

This reminds me of a game theory experiment. Suppose there two persons A and B. You give Person A 100$ and ask him to split the money between himself and person B. 5:16 - There is a huge, HUGE, difference between the two. It's one thing to make fun of death and edgy things, it's another to willingly serve this type of content to kids. Logan's channel is majorly aimed at and watched by kids. As such, he does have a responsibility in watch he uploads. He has to keep in mind that every video he uploads is a video made for kids. To make it a more tangible example: take TV channels. HBO can show as many tits, asses, sex and gore they want, because the people watching HBO are supposedly adults. Yes, there might be some kids watching them, but it's not their target audience, and you could simply argue that it's the parents fault to let their kid watch something not meant for them. On the other hand, you have Cartoon Network, a channel made specifically for kids. They have kids shows, a kid friendly line up, etc. If Cartoon Network was to suddenly, one day, post a video of a tranny fucking a girl over a dead body, everyone would go ape shit. Not only because of the content, but mostly because they just targeted that content towards kids. In the first case, the content on the same line as the channel itself, so it's the parents responsibility to see what their kids are watching and then control it. But on the second, you already have a channel that the parents trust and know it's safe, suddenly doing a 180°.

I don't think it's a defeatist attitude. The thing is, and I said this in another video, there are only three ways sites moderate. 1) no real rules 2) completely sanitized of anything provocative 3) mostly sanitized but selectively enforced. Small websites usually start at option 1 and change into 2 or 3 over time as they get big. I think youtube will have to go with option 3 because it relies to some degree on controversy but needs to please the sponsors. It's only a question of what "selectively" is going to mean. It's already obvious they're not going to apply their rules to big youtubers, and I'm fine with that because what I want is not for YT to get rid of "bad behavior", but to ignore as much of it as possible. I don't want youtube to start demonitizing and banning big channels that break the rules the way they do to smaller channels, I want them to stop doing it to smaller channels because small edgelord channels make content that I like. And the less attention is brought to people breaking the rules, the more likely that is to happen because YT will have fewer excuses to make power grabs. Also, the people constantly snitching are doing it for all the wrong reasons. It's mostly personal vendettas and attempts to hold others to their own specific moral code (which they themselves often break). But if each and every one of us gets to choose how high we raise the bar, then the end result will be the bar being raised to the hight of whoever's arm is the longest. If people keep making a fuss every time someone does something they wouldn't personally do, then, in the end, we will all have to live by the rules of the most sanctimonious cunt. But if nobody says anything, and if people doing stupid shit gets no media attention, YT will rather collect the money they make off these videos than start a shitstorm by broaching the issue unprovoked. And sure, they'll still favor some youtubers over others (which will happen no matter what you do), but there is nothing you can do about it because they need to do this stuff to try and make money, and as long as they leave smaller youtubers who break the rules alone, there is no need to go on a moral crusade trying to dictate to others where the line is drawn in a way that ultimately will only end up hurting yourself.

This video is so true, most people don't care about the dead guy, they just wanted to fuck over someone they don't like and pretend like they're better than him because they fake being sad about such things. Of course no one is 100% good and those people that complained so much are probably just as bad and just wait for someone to do something they don't like so they can justify acting like the assholes they are and gang up on said person. Also a lot of the people that snitch to KZbin have these ideas about how the world should be, that KZbin should treat everyone equally for instance, but that's not how the world is.
