Unfortunate way of giving an intuition of 'e'. Will later in life be very frustrating to think e^x as e*e*e*... x times. What then do you think e^root(2) means? Or e^(i*pi)? What does that even mean? You would have to get a feel for why e^x is defined as the taylor series. The taylor series is NOT a formula for e^x. It IS e^x. What you call e is just the value of taylor series at x = 1. If e^x is just to be supposed as a function like exp(x), why do we use the power notation e^x. Because the taylor series satisfies the condition f(x+y) = f(x)*f(y). e^x only seems like e*e*... x times for integers. For extending its definition beyond integers, and to understand how it's used in the real world, you have to change your perspective and understand that e^x is that taylor series. Some people also think of e^x as being defined as the function such that its derivative is itself. That is also fine, but won't take you very far in terms of intuition.
