Fuchsia 'Lord Beaconsfield' - A Spectacular Display of Flowers!

In this video, Byron Martin talks about Fuchsia 'Lord Beaconsfield,' a stunning and popular flowering plant known for its vivid and contrasting colors. Given to us by Longwood Gardens, ’Lord Beaconsfield’ is an unbelievably heat-and-sun-tolerant fuchsia. Its attractive pendulous flowers have four long slender red sepals and four short purple petals that create a majestic display.
‘Lord Beaconsfield’ flowers reliably from spring to fall. This fuchsia tolerated full sun in our Connecticut gardens, but in warmer zones morning sun or partial sun is best. Our friends at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania wanted to share this special fuchsia with us to make sure it gets out in the marketplace so gardeners everywhere will always have their beloved ‘Lord Beaconsfield.’
Fuchsia 'Lord Beaconsfield' is a relatively low-maintenance plant, but does require some pruning to encourage bushy growth and to remove any dead or diseased branches. The best time to prune is in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. This plant is a great choice for gardeners looking to add a splash of color to their outdoor space or for those who want to create a striking hanging basket. We recommend 3 pots for a large 10” hanging basket.

Fuchsias are very beautiful but I didn’t realize they can take some sun. Maybe there are new cultivars that can take more than others. I imagine it would be early morning or very late afternoon sun. Helps to know where they grow naturally. Thanks for the info!

Fuchsia are one of my favorite flowers! I live in Zone 9b and have killed so many… but have a few that seem to have “acclimated” as long as I keep it in the shade. Thank you for this video!
