Sorry it took me so long to see this Daniel. This is Nick Anderson, I had the black Kenworth W900l when you worked for Bower. Charlie told me once “The two happiest days of my life was the day I bought my log truck and the day I sold it.

I remember that truck well, that is too funny about Charlie I can picture him saying that.

The interviews are great, always enjoyed, thanks for putting them together. The shovel needs 20 pumps of grease in it's track adjuster pretty bad though

Eh I bet the grease cylinder is seized up and the track adjuster track is bent or the front idler spring and block is busted lol. Don’t matter how much you pump grease to her it won’t get tighter

I worked 2 years Helicopter logging, starting 1976, as a choker setter and 'hooker' (hooked the chocked logs to the cable/hook hanging from the helicopter - different then a hooktender) all around the NW. Worked mostly in Oregon (close to Medford, Prineville, and Cave Junction) but including Washington (out of Quilcene), Idaho, and N California. Then I went to conventional logging in Douglas County Oregon for the next 6 years. Lots of highline and cats (mostly for building logging roads) setting chokers, including some time working landings too. Never wanted to run machinery so decided to go to college. Retired geologist now but still proud of my logging days. Fun to watch these - keep them coming.

Is this the bloke who distilled my life time of experiences in the work environment, with his wry observation, "Ye caint fix stupid". After an impetuous young pup had broke something, and then offered to fix it Brilliant!

This guys a solid dude I’m glad there’s still some people left from homesteader families on the Peninsula. I remember Pederson’s yard in Quilcene when I was a kid we’d pass it on the way to our camp property by the Duckabush on the canal. Lots of memories was a different world in the 70’s now you see the old location, but nothing is there.

Hey Dan you should come over to the Montesano area and interview my boss and I. My boss (Bud Berger) has owned multiple logging sides, over 20 trucks, and his grandfather built and founded the Berger yarder company that made all the huge Berger yarders. He's got so many stories and grew up with all the local legends
