The reason it wouldn’t go into gear is because going uphill when you pull it out of gear the transmission slows down a lot faster than when you are on a flat surface. There is no way to get around it. When floating gears you need to get the RPM’s higher than normal and float from one gear to another as quickly as you can. I drive for a living and it’s the little trick I’ve found.
@AllWheatherSim3 жыл бұрын
That’s definitely true. I drove a cabover in the 90’s and had to double clutch all the time and not an option going up hill such as an off-ramp. Learned better techniques when I drove conventional trucks when I went long haul. Definitely have to use the rpm’s and understand the ratios in order to have a clean floating of gears. You learned to shift real quick when double-clutching cab overs. Miss those days. Great comment, thank you for posting it🙌🇺🇸
@typicalrogers5632 жыл бұрын
When you downshift, while floating gears, you are suppose to hit the gas again once in neutral to raise the rpms up, rpm matching I think is the term used. Its not like when upshifting, which is very easy, and you just shift. That's why the gears were grinding they were not at the same rpms, or close to the same, so the gear couldn't slip in. I simple way to do it until you get the feel is , based off his 1800rpm that you like to shift at, I would lower the rpm to about 1300, foot off gas and shift to neutral, hit the gas to raise the rpm up to 1800 then foot off gas, shift down and then go as normal. It's literally just a tap of the gas when in neutral to rpm match, this took me a while to learn in real-life and in the game it threw me off a bit since the timing is a little off, but you will feel the flow once you get comfortable.
@rusty41042 жыл бұрын
We had a 4 speed with a 239 in our gmc 4104. Climbing mountains in west Virginia I would downshift, you have to bring the rpm’s up to the speed you need the engine to be for 3rd gear ran all the way out. If you didn’t, you’d miss it then it was time to start hunting for 2nd. I did a lot of grinding gears to learn that. My grandfather drove a 3 stick b model Mack in the 60’s. He did it flawlessly.
@pierce_arrow17982 жыл бұрын
You can also skip a gear or two. Or use jake when shifting which some people would not recommend but I know a bunch of people who do it that have been driving for a very long time

I'm just about at 40 hours myself, also picked up earlier this month. I slowed down playing it though because I don't have a wheel (yet) and driving a truck that requires fine corrections doesn't mix well with a cheap HOTAS 🤣 (and keyboard + mouse is even worse) Hopefully I can get my hands on a T300rs GT or T300 Alcantara in the near future. It's really cool being able to watch you drive through Washington and being able to actually visualize where you are since i grew up there and have been all over the state. I highly recommend taking a vacation out here if you havent already, checking out the Olympic Peninsula, Hurricane ridge, the Quinalt Rainforest, Quinalt lodge, deception pass bridge (it's in this video), and the north cascades. Best time to go is summer time, there are only really 3-4 months of good weather in WA June thru September. It's not St. Thomas by any means but it is beautiful.

Why play AAA games that stutter have BAD mods and don't feel polished at all just a copy paste of the old game when you can play ATS or ETS2. These games are so polished and give so much love and time to make it feel good and not a buggy mess that no one has a good time. Amazing work SCS

Just finding this video now. But where you started. The literal next valley east is where my grandpa lived for for nearly all his life. I loved that place and wish I could go back but the last piece was sold about 10 years ago. My great grandpa had 1200 Acres of land there. Sold 800 in the 70s to BC Hydro and then sold more in the 90s but yeah. I love that part of Canada and want to retire out there for sure. The homes in that valley were all built by my family. 3 generations lived in that valley, my moms generation moved to the city while my grand parents stayed out there till their late 70s when their health was in decline. Also you mention the temp is 77f at some point while on the logging road. Because of the altitude and the proximity to the ocean still affecting weather it easily can get into the 80+ on a sunny summer day. Edit: Ah I was typing all this thinking you were going to be routed past Lillooet. But Pemberton is further West. At 37:48, thats a salt or snow shed, iconic for the area. They all look like that, they store road salts and gravel for use in winter.

Even the Jake brake sounds are accurate with the turbo spooling up on the Jake! Gear changes, general cab sounds... all very immersive! Love the video and the sounds were amazing. It actually sounds like you’re inside a real semi. Without getting too technical. That engine is a PACCAR engine.
