Right. Prior to 2020 every LSAT had five sections-four scored, one unscored-so students could have had LR/LR/LR/RC/LG or LG/LG/LR/RC/LR, or RC/RC/LR/LR/LG, or invent whatever your own personal nightmare test would have been. Truth is, it doesn't matter. If you get good enough at the individual questions, you can ace any combination of sections.

Having games being my best section, I now feel more pressure to take the LSAT before the August exam. I was shooting to be ready by the June test, but I don't want to place undue pressure on myself to achieve a score I'll be happy with. It's unfortunate they didn't give more notice. I feel a decision such as this one should have been told more in advance, but that's just me.

Just as a matter of fact it’s easier to manage the study of two things than three. It narrows your focus and even if games were your strong suit, you just have less to grapple with. Allocate the time you were spending on games to the section you struggle with most.

As a matter of equity, I think this helps level the playing field. I struggled with logic games and couldn't afford the classes. I think I could score better and have a shot at law school now given that the reading and logical reasoning were generally good for me.

Agreed! Me too on the fair chance finally! Lawyers on LinkedIn are saying that LG has nothing to do with the law, bar exam or lawyering! I get the part about construction of statutes, but that's not critical to being a good lawyer.

@joussefsedeek3759 Жыл бұрын
I'm personally somewhat annoyed from this change. That means that there is a chance that on exam day, you can end up with 3 LR sections! That's just way too draining. I'm not a native English speaker and naturally some LR questions just don't add up to me at all no matter how long I sit in front of the question. Standarized tests suck.
@dojisatchivi1664 Жыл бұрын
this is interesting to me, because despite the fact that I am one of the people that Ben and Nathan describe as likely to benefit from the change, (native english speaker, LG was my weakest section) I'm kind of pissed. I've been working so hard to get good at logic games, went up from averaging 12-13 questions correct a game to 21/23 correct most tries and it's like now we're taking it out? why tf did I do all that work why am I currently sitting here in this library practicing logic games? I've been getting like 23/26 on LG and reading comp regularly for months. Anyway I'm signed up for the November 2023 LSAT so I guess I better just can it and keep studying and practicing LG😅

Yay! Yay! Yay! Former English major here loving the change!! Come on now, -- being a lawyer is all about words and reasoning! Gladiators of the English language, REMEMBER?! No offense to non-native speakers because I am a naturalized cit myself, but this change makes sense so we can be as competitve with native speakers as much as possible.

English was not my first language, but in my opinion, being bilingual has given me an edge in language. I suck at math (failed algebra three times in high school!), but language, for some reason, has always been a strength. I'm way better with words, theory and reading. Logic games are more difficult for me but trying to practice more in that area.
@aacts2219 Жыл бұрын
I love the games as I am STEM type and concrete thinker. It's the section that makes the most sense to me because it's like math 2+2=4 & doesn't involve opinion/personal judgement like RC and LR which answer is the "best." Definitely, I plan to get my test taken before Aug 2024. LG helped me a lot to understand formal logic in LR sufficient and necessary assumptions.
@joshuakim76198 ай бұрын
English is my second language. Games is my strongest section. I enjoy games. I’ve been solving so many games 😂 and not much else due to LR and RC being not as enjoyable. Now I am not ready for LR and RC, but im gonna have to take the June Lsat just to take advantage of the games section. I dont plan on getting high score. I will be happy with 152-155.

@@lionlikemessenger $59.95 is the discounted price. It was previously $89.95. I hope you find it helpful if you pick it up. BTW: All of the explanations from the Encyclopedia are also available in the LSAT Demon. I started studying for the test in February of this year and am torn on whether I want to try to take the test in June before the change or not. Currently Logic games are my weakest section, and logical reasoning is my strongest, though I’ve heard Logic Games have the most potential for improvement in general, so I’m not sure if I should really grind to get perfect at the games and take the LSAT in June or hold off until August. If anyone has any thoughts or advice that would be appreciated!

It'll be easy actually. Prior to 2020, every test had two sections of LR. For the past three years, we've been dropping one section of LR from Demon tests so that students could practice LR/RC/LG. Now, we'll add that other section of LR back and drop the games. Super-easy switch.
