For some people who are complaining, it's just a tool in my toolbox. I have waited 8 years for this after the initial release of the drummer. Regardless of what the marketing tells you, there is no AI involved, it's just an updated drummer in bass/keyboard form."
@gregkocis6 ай бұрын
Yes, I was wondering what AI is. It's a buzzword these days for everything.

@@gregkocis Even my Grandma is about to slap the word all over her bakery 😀😀😀😀😀

Well, there is AI involved but very restricted. Yes, I look at it as a tool for more effective creative flow.

@@gregkocis Actually the error is with the gatekeeping here. The buzzword you're speaking about and the claim that there isn't "AI" involved in the session players shows a trend to just call autoregressive large language models "AI" and anything else isn't. From a correct scientific perspective this is bullshit though. Thing is... the last time AI was a big trend was in the 90ies, but at this time many BIG projects (huge invests from DARPA and more) didn't work out as expected so the so called "AI winter" did come and those projects got stopped. Nobody in the field could talk about AI without getting in problems of getting funding. AI was a forbidden term. So many started to talk about "Computer Vision" and "Machine Learning" and such stuff. All this stuff was clearly there and even in end user products for MANY years. When Sam Altman started this marketing stunt called "ChatGPT" which essentially is a LLM tech demo that did work out as a bit to useful to just die immediately... the technology was quite well known for years... most researchers just didn't feel like it is ripe for mass productification. But the ghost was out of the bottle and since the actual names are to weird and arcane for normal people they just called it "AI" in a more Hollywood meaning than ever. And now we are here: People with absolutely no clue who argue that algorithms which clearly are based on artificial intelligence research are put of as "nah that's not AI!" because well... its not ChatGPT.

I believe it is using ai slightly especially when it’s following a specific track. The old drummer would just give a loop that matched the bpm . Maybe I am wrong . I’ve only been using logic for a couple months
@jamesbastani42955 ай бұрын
You can turn off the left hand on the session keyboardist, do block chords, or even melodic stuff with fills and different ranges and movements, convert to MIDI notes then move the region to the guitar track. You can use the scripter for strumming effects. It works well.

@@FluxriderTV I've heard some of the best emulators and no, we're still not there. Sometimes single note leads and such can be a bit more convincing, .. but the tell is with the strumming. They still sound like harpsichords to me.

This is great, I was trying to figure out how to do this last night and it wasn’t happening. Seems so obvious when someone else does it haha! Just having the session players follow a chord progression seems to open up ideas on which to build. You don’t get the “wait, play that agin, what are you doing there?” moments but still really useful. I wish there was a way to hum the idea, record it, and then have the session players kind of vibe on that.

I don't think they will. Once they set a new minimum requirement that's it. I don't believe there will be any updates to logic X it's now a logic 11 and up from now on.

@gregkocis5 ай бұрын
well, logic doesn't have any guitar players (yet). I do use native instruments, guitars ample sound stuff, and UJAM's guitars. They're all really good, but I guess it depends on what you look for to determine which one is better.

Can you make a video on finding midi online and using them with session players? I have no clue about music theory... Thanks
@gregkocis6 ай бұрын
I think, for now, you have to input the chords manually in the logic. It would be beneficial to have a feature that allows you to import mini files and extract the chord progressions. Perhaps this could be developed in the future.

Thanks for your input. I'll probably use the bass player the most and then use whatever else I use. You don't have to use all the instruments. In fact, everyone's music would sound the same if they did.

The drummer track is super useful when you’re trying to sketch out an idea and can’t sink the time in to actually program drums note by note. You can pump out a rough track, convert to midi and just adjust it later, or use it as a template. It’s a great tool to go from the outline stage to a more fleshed out demo track and has already saved me tons of time. But no, no one is going to be using it as the final cut and leaving it as is on a mastered track.

True, but not everyone plays every instrument. I play drums. I play guitar. I play piano. I play bass, and I also produce, and I use tools that are available to me, and it's good to have other players involved depending on what you're creating.
