I bet Logic's dad Bobby Sr. broke down and cried the first time he heard this on the radio! Especially when he heard his own voice on the recorded message near the end of the song. Probably made him think of how far he'd come since he was an addict and how grateful he was that his son Bobby Jr. let him rebuild their relationship when he could have easily just bailed on him after getting famous and been like since Dad wasn't there for me when i was young I sure as heck don't have time for him now. I just graduated high school in June. The second part of the song is so powerful to me personally. I was never the best student, I never got the best of grades. How Logic says "I've been working hard, I've been searching for God." At times I thought I wouldn't make it, but through the hard work I put in my senior year to finally hear the words mid year that I'm on track to graduate, I finally found the light at the end of the tunnel. This song makes me cry every fucking time. I can relate so fucking much. My younger sister was raped by someone we all trusted, she is still an alcoholic to this day, and I’m the only one who can make her feel like a human but I’m busy with my son and family to answer all the time. Our dad is an alcoholic drug user. A lying, cheating manipulator who I want nothing to do with but calls from different numbers and emails to try and reach me because he claims he loves me, even though he pushed me away my whole life. I’ve always wanted to be better than him, and aspire for greatness and I have so much in my life to worry about. I push my family away besides my son to try and focus on a singular goal, but as I do that I realize I am just like my father. The only thing I can’t see myself in this song is the fame, success and begging for handouts. Besides that it feels like this song was written for me.
