Thanks a lot, Kyler. Just before dumping my 3 yrs old M325 mouse with the left click suddenly not working reliably anymore, i found your great video. Taped and opened the micro-switch, then found the metal plate a little "off", adjusted it, cleaned it gently and...IT WORKS GREAT, AGAIN!!! Saves OUR environment!!!

Thanks for the video. My old eyes had trouble trying to get the metal piece back in after it fell out. Lost it twice in my cluttered room, finally gave up and ordered the Japanese version of the switch on Amazon, D2F-01F-T. Same size but a better quality. If one decides to do this, make sure you have decent soldering skills and the tools to remove the solder. I have a good desoldering tool so it was easy to replace. All works great, very positive click that is a bit louder. Works great. I've got the old switch that I'm going to still see if I can get together just for fun. Had this mouse for several years and didn't want to have to get something else.

Thanks! Had so much trouble taking off the microswitch cover until I saw your video! The spring was a pain to get back on, it's a bit easier if you position the two ends first and then use a screwdriver or something to push down the middle part into place.

Thanks for being there Kyler...did the surgery and sprung the spring in the cover removal. Had a heck of a time trying to figure out how the spring is situated....yeah I know, there's posts with all kinds of words which make no sense. Finally opened up the other microswitch and figured it out. But I really got to thank you for reviving my 11 year old mouse, which might get to be a teenager. Better to repair than fill the landfills with junk. I'm a happy camper!

I have the same wonderful mouse, and had the same frustrating, productivity-damning problem. Your video saved me the cost of a new mouse and a bunch (more) gray hairs, so thanks very much! Side note: I was able to straighten that little metal piece in the micro switch by wedging the tip of a small flat-head screwdriver underneath the metal piece, and placing a second small flat-head screwdriver tip on top of the metal piece. I pushed both tips together carefully and firmly, sandwiching the bent metal piece in between them, and it flattened everything nicely. My mouse now works perfectly!

I can't believe I actually did it... It took me TWO HOURS of frustrated tinkering until I finally managed to get it just right and the left clicking is FLAWLESS now! You are a saint my man. I am shocked at how I did not give up even after 7-8 failed attempts initially on getting the bend and placement of that copper tab correct.

Thanks. Just followed your steps exactly and gave new life to a mouse that has sat out of commission for MONTHS. I used a pair of thin tweezers to flatten the metal tab. The entire process took me 10-15 minutes if that. Great suggestion about the tape to keep the white plastic piece in place.

I was having this problem for the longest time and thought my mouse, after a solid 6 year run, finally gave. I tried your method and now my mouse is working like it's brand new :) . I didn't have any major issues except the little spring went flying off the first time I tried to re-place it but it took me little over a half hour to find it and put it back on. Thanks so much!!
@patmat.
@patmat. 5 жыл бұрын
Same right click issue on a Logitech Anywhere MX so I tried to flaten the spring as you advised but there's more to it, the central tongue of the spring needs to have a very particular shape, I must have bent it too much initially and then spent the next 2hr trying to get it to spring correctly again. Eventually I switched the spring of the left microswitch with the right microswitch. Right click is working great again and Left click is so-so. I just bought Omron e-switchs on eBay for 1$ a piece, if they have the same springs I'll just replace that, otherwise de-soldering it is.

I broke the metal piece trying to take the spring completely out from the microswitch. I started googling 'microswitch replacements' and found this video. I would've saved myself 5 bucks if I just bent the spring back without taking it out completely. Note: The microswitch in this video is a "OMRON D2FC-F-7N" my Logitech G9x of 4 years has a switch "OMRON D2FC-F-7N(10m)" The '10m' is rated for 10 million clicks. That seems to be the the only difference (spring is the same, looks, etc). also your voice is smooth. like classical radio station announcer smooth :)

Great vid! Saved me about 80€! Couple of remarks: 1) I managed to remove the feet in one piece (thanks to your warning), but still they don't stick back that great so I'll have to add some adhesive 2) The little notch in the thumb end still broke off, but doesn't really affect the mouse 3) Once the spring is out, it's not that easy to put back, make sure you have some tweezers handy 4) I didn't get it back to original shape, but it did improve and I switched the right one with the left one (just the spring).Drag and drop is less important there and in general it sees a lot less use

Thank you, you've fixed my problem! As others have said though, the lip smacking mouth sounds are intense. A warning to others, if you don't have dexterity, don't bother doing this. If that metal piece comes off it can seriously be a pia to align the three little sections of it. I had to take off the other side to see exactly how to set it up and even then it took me awhile. But it now has a louder click than the other side.

Before you try to fix your switch, first check if the double click problem is not caused by static electricity. Remove the battery from the mouse and the unify USB stick from the computer. Click all the buttons 30 times. The double click problem might be solved. It did the trick for me.

Wow ! I just fixed my logitech g303 with this way, saved me from buying & waiting for new switch and hard-solder it. Some tips; It took around 1 hour total work, that metal part is tricky.You don't fully flatten it.Just a little bit is enough. While doing it you may find that copper-metal part unusable/not-integrated status by mistake but it is doesn't what it's look like.It needs very sensitive trimming.I took my other switch and tried to copy it while doing it.Even that metal part fell of few times in the end I did by trying. Feedback : Now it is working healthy but it makes thicker sound and button is more rough when pressing but it works! Thanks a lot again !

Awesome! Worked perfectly! Thanks a lot Kyler. I tried to skip the tape step thinking I knew it all, but that was a terrible idea...as you know.Trying to get that white button back in it's slot was maddening. For anyone having questions about what to "bend" back it's the very end piece that's closest to the wheel. The flat part that makes contact with the stationary....little metal thing. Sorry I don't know what it's called. Oh, AND IF THE LITTLE COPPER CONNECTOR THING COMES OFF...DON'T PANIC! I thought I'd broken something, but it all goes back together. Just takes some patience.

I have 4 of these mice. They usually go for a year or so before manifesting this problem. I opened up the oldest one (probably 2-3 years old) and the switches were different. They both have the number 151 printed on them. They are very hard to get open. In fact, I broke one off of my mouse entirely. I don't want to do that with the other (newer) mouse that has this same problem. Do you have any suggestions?

I have changed both switches and now my scroll wheel does not work anymore, nothing, clicking it, tilting it, scrolling, all out. Other things work, new switches are great. Any ideas?

This does work but if you are going to tackle it just be prepared for what is actually a very fiddly job. At my first attempt, the little spring plate flew off and landed somewhere behind my monitor. I was lucky to be able to find it! Secondly, if the spring does fly off completely, it's not really clear from the video how it's supposed to be re-seated correctly. My advice would be to remove the cover from the right hand switch to use as an example on how to re-seat the spring. Also, there's no science behind how flat you should make the spring to get the best tension for the button. Overall, it took me almost an hour from start to finish to fix it and I almost gave up and chucked the mouse in the bin! lol

Yes, but you got it?! I should have labeled this project 'difficult'; one that would try your patience and fine motor skills :-) Great job!

Thanks man....fixed my right-click button and saved me $100. That spring is a bugger to get back in if you don't have some small pliers to grab it while you get it back into the tiny grooves.
