logitech z906 speaker no power fixing

Hello, I have a problem with my Logitech z906. The motherboard heats up after sometimes and this results in random sound cuts. when I turn it off to cool down for some time and turns it on. the same problem occurs. I need your advice

I have been recently getting this issue and the only way to get it to power on is to unplug it and plug it into another powerpoint, and when it happens again I have to unplug it again and put it into another powerpoint. Very frustrating.

Nope, was not able to fix it. Logitech got cheap after the Z-5500. The Z-5500 is built with quality components. All their new stuff is shit.

+John Doe guess what.... normally I use my headset. I did not use the 5.1boxes but a while ago I smelled something weird like burning but I did not know where it came from. So today I decided to open the subwoofer and just now the motherboard with the cables where all molten!!! by itself!!! WTF... no more logitech for me..

well i mean the z906 is a fuck ton cheaper than the z5500 at release. i couldnt find the z5500 for less than 1000 usd and i got the z906 for 200 usd so ofc the z906 is gona be poorly built. but for the price i think its pretty good lasted me 5 years

I think he replaced the fuse 1 or fuse 2 here, if also the varistor(brown) got also replaced if not blown.

Had no power, all the buttons i pressed and the remote didnt work. what i did was to just unplug and plug in the cable that connects your controller unit (the thingy with the big volume knob in the middle) to the subwoofer again and voila it worked. no idea why.

Like a dentist pulling a bad tooth :-) I have a Z5500 sub with pod bypass cables, and threw the rubbish pod away, as it wasn't far off failing just looking at the PCB burns. But at the same time, I discovered where the power enters the main sub PCB, a round component is fried. I don't know what that part is, and to replace it is a major job the way it's all been assembled. I don't consider it worth putting in for expensive repair, as I am dabbling in high-end equipment that sucks funding, but it would be nice to be able to repair it myself, and use it as a workshop amp with it's speakers, and bluetooth input from my phone. I won't touch any more Logitech stuff, aside from their PC keyboards.

Don't buy the z-906. Go on Ebay and buy a nice z-5500 system. Your money would then be well spent.

It will last lets say 5 years but then it will 90 percent die or start to act funny. I thought mine would work ok but I also started getting issues with it after this time period. I even changed some caps on the power board because the voltage wasnt constant and apparently that didnt solve the issue...

Worst product I ever bought. They know this was a issue and they still sold it to me. First time when I bought it. It didn't even work. The store send me another one and told me it was a known issue. Second time it worked for a year and suddenly it didn't anymore. But ofcourse out of warranty. Now 4 years later I still look this up and see this video. Loved the sound, hated to product. My first logitech I really hate.

I am currently repairing my own Z906 system, and from what I can tell he is replacing the two fuses between the mains supply and the varistor, which is blue in my case but red in the video. The manufacturer code on my varistor is S14K250, which is an Epcos 250V 65J 14mm MOV. Fuses are pigtail fuses, specification 15mm x 5mm F2.5A250V. Hope this helps!

Melroy van den Berg its not a big deal to repair for smps repairs guys. Try your local shops once..also logitech only repalces with 1 years .or else they wont even repair for charge. Also.

I have a z906, where the control module does not respond, the system powers on, but does not respond to the input selection. the input selection is stuck at number 5 and when I tried connecting it to a dvd player to check if the system is working at lest on that channel, it did not give any output. Please help, and do tell me if any circuit diagrams are available for this system, or if anyone else had the same issue and were able to resolve it. Thanks.
