Here we engage the grinder, and set everything up to fill the boxes as much as possible with the broken glass.

Hi Elme, Great video of bottle simulation. Have a question. When multiplying/adding, why choose an integer over a Binary bit? Cheers Ben

A single binary bit memory location can only be a 1 or a 0. If we want to count to higher than 1, or perform most math functions, it's better to use an integer. It has to do with the different ways certain data types are stored in memory and the amount of memory allotted for each data type. Most of Computer science is the same way. In most general computer programming languages you have to specify if a number is a floating point, integer, bool, etc, the same is true here, and the main reason is the different memory allocation sizes for each type of data. You could certainly perform these calculations in strictly binary numbers if you were so inclined. You would have to specify more than a single bit for the locations of the data though. If you specified a 32bit word for each data location, that would probably work, but it's easier to understand if you just convert it to an integer.

Hi there, great video . If you may I have a question. So why don't we use some weight sensor ( Load cell,...etc) under the box instead of using the counters ?

That would make more sense. Unfortunately the simulation isn't able to be changed. You're given a situation and you have to write ladder logic for the components you have. A load cell would make this simulation a lot easier to code. I think that's probably why it wasn't used.

One problem i'm having is when two broken are next to each other the limit switch doesnt go off so it only increments the counters once
