Before drilling holes through the grill cloth, it's a good idea to use a heated up awl, or a soldering iron to melt a small hole in the grill "cloth", which is actually some type of synthetic plastic type material. That way the drill bit won't grab any of the fibers and pull on them, creating a "snag" in the grill cloth.

I've been really happy with the kit and baffle I purchased from MOJO tone. Great company. I'm surprised they didn't put in cup washers for the screws on the back panels especially given the overall price of the cab. Fender style cup washers are less than $2 retail, but would be a really nice finishing touch.

Agreed, I add them to all the mojo kits I’ve built, inexpensive and adds a nice touch

I didn’t think you needed a catchphrase, Lyle, but “viola”. Genius. 👍

It's sort of amp I would never given a second look to back in the seventies when I was gigging with a Quad reverb. But now I think it would be a great little amp to play at home in my senior years. Thanks for posting.

Pawn shops were probably lousy with them back then, and they were super cheap I’m sure. Now they cost a weeks pay, or more. Given what was available in the 70s, and the prices, I would overlook a champ too! Wish I’d realized when I was getting started 30 years ago, and I might have some of those cool amps!

Lyle, you have a great way of calling someone out without being obnoxious or mean about it. You are the Man.

Nice result, looks perfect. It may seem like a minor thing, but an incorrectly positioned logo badge is obvious and looks ugly to me. Love your attention to this kind of detail. I have used a square sheet of clear plastic, cut from one of those salad greens containers, to make a template. I lined it up with the baffle's top and left edges, then poked through the plastic into the screw holes with a fine-point tool. Side note for anyone having trouble finding the right screws for the logo badge: They are black #3 x 1/2" oval head Phillips. After a long search, I finally found them, but in 5/8" length (which is okay) at Philadelphia Luthier Tools. This was for a blackface amp (Pro Reverb); I don't know if the same size was used throughout their classic amp era.

I saw the band, The Producers, that had a couple of hits in the early 80s and was close enough to the stage to see one of the guitarists was using a Fender Champ. Mic'd through the PA of course, but it did the job just fine.

Wonderful video. I wonder what it sounds like with a higher watt speaker? Will a ampm need to be biased if the speaker is changed to a higher watt because it takes more power to run it ? Thanks again .

I’m so used to Tolex and tweed, but a friend made a cabinet for a Bassman years ago, and it looked great! I wonder why most amps aren’t just stained wood. Probably particle board and quick joints…but if you did that right, no more buying and trying to glue down some kind of fabric!

The new cab is here! The new cab is here! Things are going to start happening for me NOW! The Jerk quotes are classic and eternal. just like my 76 Vibro Champ.

Great job I have a stock 1969 Champ❤! My Fuchs logo came off my 50 watt head and there’re no mounting holes looks like they used hot glue to the grill cloth. I tried hot glue but it cooled too quickly any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

My 1979 Vibro Champ is missing the top back piece. I need to order one. I put the same Warehouse speaker in mine. Lyle, could you have transferred the original grill over instead of transferring the logo?

Well done. Mojotone cabs are well made, but rather pricey.

Wonder how my AC30 is going to fare under the critical eye of the surgeon? Nothing to do but sit in the waiting room, read outdated Field & Stream, and wait for the Doc to deliver the prognosis..... I wonder how old those gumballs in the gumball machine are....
@goodun297414 күн бұрын
"Field & Stream", does that magazine even exist nowadays? We are showing our age..... I subscribed to that as a teenager, and also "Outdoor Life", and a saltwater fishing magazine too..... We also had "Popular Electronics", "Popular Mechanics" and "Popular Science", and "Life" and "Newsweek", and so there was never any shortage of reading material!
@merrillaldridge277514 күн бұрын
@goodun2974 That was intended as the punchline. Only the "older" folks will remember Doctor patient waiting rooms and the outdated reading material.

‘75 has a glued in baffle. More labor/time to change it out for cleats than to replace.
