If Colton had stayed on Teen Wolf, I'm pretty sure Jackson would have turned out to be Peter's kid and they wouldn't have come up with Malia. There were a lot of parallels between their characters. Both adopted. Both kind of a chaos factor, wildcard character. Plus, Jackson's and Peter's snarky, bitchyness were just too similar to be a coincidence.

Oh 100%! They were already alluding to the fact that Jackson remembers the Hale house in one scene. They had to pivot to Malia because Colton left the show.

I can't really see how two men being married could be "heteronormative". Its not heteronormal for two men to be married to each other. lol
@michaelheliotis527910 ай бұрын
You've missed the point. Marriage itself is heteronormative, a fundamentally straight institution that was historically about legitimising the parentage of children and ensuring adequate resources to rear them. Modern society may have rebranded it into being about showing commitment to a partner, which queers have a valid interest in, but that doesn't change the heteronormativity of marriage and isn't a requisite for showing commitment.
@DarkWillUser10 ай бұрын
@@michaelheliotis5279 I don't believe I missed any point. I get why he thinks marriage is "heteronormative" but two men marrying simply isn't heteronormative. Its literally the opposite of that. Plus it does a whole hell of a lot more than "show commitment to a partner". It also grants legal benefits that are completely unique to it. And same sex couples fought long and hard for this right and these benefits. I don't care what heterosexual marriage's past is. I know what same sex marriage's past is and its by no means "heteronormative". I also wouldn't call marriage "fundamentally straight". "Historically straight", yes. "Fundamentally", not so much. Maybe once upon a time, but no longer. Have a great weekend!
@michaelheliotis527910 ай бұрын
@@DarkWillUser According to your logic, nothing is heteronormative if you merely get two men doing it; thus there is no such thing as heteronormativity. So you've also missed the point of what the entire concept of heteronormativity is, which is when queer people perpetuate the normality of something fundamentally straight, typically for little reason other than that it's viewed as normal due to its longstanding usage by straight people. And while you have asserted that marriage has specific benefits that make it independently desirable, the reality is that actually this desirability has been artificially constructed by (American, as you will see) straight people in an attempt to oppress queers and induce them to conform with a straight framework and worldview. The legal benefits that are unique to marriage are largely an American phenomenon, as most countries which aren't as homophobic have been happy to extend those benefits to other partnerships like civil unions. Not to mention that in many other Western countries, they recognise de facto marriages whereby if two people have been living and sleeping with each other for long enough, then you are categorised as a married couple for all legal purposes even to the extent where if you split up, you're each entitled to half of each other's property. American queers only had to fight hard for the exclusive benefits of marriage because people tried very hard to keep such from them, whereas other Western countries often had multiple means of securing those benefits before same-sex marriage was even legalised, allowing people to obtain them without participating in the heteronormative institution of contractual marriage. You also don't understand the meaning of fundamental, which refers to something's original state. And in the case of marriage its origin was to legitimise a man's rights-and to a lesser extent responsibilities-over a woman, namely to have her as his exclusive child-bearer untouched by other men so as to ensure the paternity of his children. Hence marriage is very much fundamentally straight, and the various other functions and meanings that have been attached to it are not fundamental to it, even if now they might be the primary allure. If you're still confused about what I'm saying, there is a lot scholarly material devoted to unpacking heteronormativity and what it means for queer people, and which might explain it better for you than I have. I would encourage you to read some of them and expand your understanding. 🙏

I've had a little crush on this man for years and years. I always knew in the back of my mind he was special and would someday spill the beans about what he's been through in Hollyweird. And I just bought his book on Kindle and will dive in to that soon. I'm glad he's on the sober train, that's something we have in common (over 30 years sober here) and it really does give one more clarity about life and forces one to deal with oncoming issues with inner strength rather than burying them in a bottle of vodka. Loved this interview. Oh and I too am single but have ZERO desire to date. Men, in my experience, are just horny dogs and not much else. I'm sure there are wonderful, kind, gentle, in touch with their feelings types out there but sadly for my journey I've not been lucky to meet men like that. Funnily I know some straight men that are good friends of mine that are just that.... Oh well! LOL
