Using Logseq changed my work life. Went from not confident in my organization to completely in charge of documentation both personally and for my team at work.
@albertoleal7387 Жыл бұрын
I think that the most underrated logseq feature is the time-centered note organization provided by the journals. It's life-changing to have a white canvas that invites you to write no matter what have in your mind and still, with a couple hashtags (even if they don´t conduit to anything yet) be able to get all your notes organized by topic or time to use this information later. This is the main difference between obsidian and logseq and for mi, Logseq/roam has the most natural logic of organization to build a second brain.

Would rate the security a 10 just because it is FOSS. It's one of the main selling points of this software. Since the source code is for everyone to see, any vulnerabilities present in the software that the devs may have missed out, will be pointed out immediately by the community, comparing it to something like Obsidian, Notion, etc. where you have to TRUST the devs to not screw up and release a version without vulnerabilities. It is also "secure" (or future-proof) in a sense that when all comes to worst and Logseq has to shutdown, since it's FOSS, it's more likely that the community will fork it and continue development from there. Since it also has an APGL license, the forks must also have an AGPL license, protecting logseq forks from ever being proprietary.

Don't idealize open source, there's not many people reading the code and they don't find all the bugs / backdoors. Case in point, they find bugs daily in the linux kernel which probably has more eyes on it than any other software projects. Of course a kernel is more complex than a note taking app.
@parodoxis10 ай бұрын
@@jeroboam4486 oh its definitely an ideal, it's just that security isn't the reason. Freedom is. Better security potential is a nice consequence though.

Would love to see this scoring matched with some kind of general form people could fill in to see how it compares to the end users. I think the biggest difference for me has been the ability to embed notes at a block level inside of other notes and any edits made are made to all versions of that block. Same with pages.

i use both. logseq is better to just open up and begin. obsidian better for longer notes, and probably better overall
@albertoleal7387 Жыл бұрын
@@Sub0x-x40 i see the never-end setup possibility as one of the biggest obsidian cons. Logseq is a simpler and natural notetaking canvas that encourages writing and prevents you from losing yourself in the possibility of improving the organization of your information rather than using it. They aren't the same and overall, there is no one better than the other.

@@TiagoForte Thank you, Tiago, or whoever handles the account! I'm trying Obsidian right now, with a bit of support via Nick Milo's Linking Your Thinking approach. Visually, he provided the best color scheme for Obsidian notes, and the integration of other tools becomes important when capturing ideas. The feature in Logseq regarding KZbin video timestamps is wonderful, as my major source of information gathering comes from KZbin videos, followed by podcasts websites. It's so critical to have these options to not only write down the notes, but also connect them to the actual source material's location, where the information is found.
Tiago would you make another video on Logseq, I fricking love it Tried notion, obsidian, craft, bear notes, ever notes, etc. Logseq is just so good

I don't quite see the point in having a member of the team rating the very product they are working on. Of course it's going to be a favourable score...
@piotr_sss Жыл бұрын
There is no way to do this objectively. A person not connected to the tool will not know all the features. A person from outside the team, a professional user, will still favor the application they're using. Plus, there are unlimited ways to use the tools - feature A may be brilliant for you, but it will be bad for my workflow, and vice versa.
@TiagoForte Жыл бұрын
Thanks @panpiotrs! This is exactly why we have the most deeply qualified person be introducing the app - we'd rather be comprehensive and overly positive than not show off the depth that only someone deeply familiar with the app can convey, especially if it's someone's first introduction to the app. The tradeoff of greater familiarity is being more positive overall. We'll do a more critical analysis of the apps we're rating in the future. If you want to get a more critical take in the meantime, just subtract 2 points from all the ratings here and you'll approximate a more critical rating! :)
