Lois, this is the very first of your videos I've watched. I was mesmerized by the simplicity of your brush movements, the clear dialogue that accompanied your painting ...I am passionate about watercolors and have been focused on 'keeping it simple and uncomplicated' ... I believe I have found my mentor.

Lois, I couldn’t agree more with Chet Delano. After seeing this video, I hit subscribe. Since then I have watched it a few more times, realizing that I learn more each time as I become familiar with the language and techniques of watercolor. Keep posting! And keep reminding your viewers that it’s OK to watch tutorials more than once. Your grateful apprentice, 🙋♀️🌵💙

You downplay the success of this piece a bit, but I agree with the other contributors: It's absolutely wonderful, one of the best you've done on KZbin. I also greatly appreciate your using the small squirrel and synthetic mop brushes in this painting. A rank beginner, I've been having trouble making soft edges with the corner of my hake brush and had thought that a small mop might help. Your confirming that suggests that there might be hope for me after all! (Ditto your use of the big Japanese goat-hair calligraphy brush elsewhere.) Thank you.

Lois, Thank you so very much for sharing your techniques. My mind perceives rolling white cap waves in the distance. So simple yet so convincing. My hake brush died, so my better half kindly donated her old pastry brush. Works just as well. xx

Nice technique Louis. I started Watercolour painting after reading Ron Ransons book and carried on using the Hake for many years but became a little disatisfied that most of my paintings turned out looking like Ron Ransons!. However I like very much your use the Hake and I have dusted off my 25 year old brush and have started using it again on and off. Although I am self taught I teach on the Cruise lines now amongst other things I do but don't the Hake although I do the odd demo with it. Most of the passengers don't have a Hake and they ships have complete starter packs they sell, so won't let you sell anything else related to the course. Keep posting your lovely loose paintings. Very inspirational.
