He Who Remains is a variant of an individual known as Kang. He’s an entity from the future who is able to control time and travel across the multiverse from one timeline to another. He’s currently* set to be the Thanos level threat of this new saga. The fact there are basically infinite versions of him means he will be difficult to stop because even when killed, there will be another variant of Kang travelling across the multiverse ready to cause chaos. * Rumours they could pivot away from this since the actor playing Kang has some big legal issues on going.

The jump scare featuring Miss Minutes was incredibly eerie. In the end, the statue of Kang the Conqueror reminded me of the 2001 Planet of The Apes, directed by Tim Burton.

FYI Your feelings that Ms. Minutes was going to be the bad guy at the end was more prescient than you thought. She was going to be the final boss fight at the end and He Who Remains was going to be a creepy end credits scene. Covid interrupted shooting on several projects including this one. They changed the final show the week before filming and it turned out amazing.

Nerd fact now that you are done: Mobius' appearance (both the comic and the Owen Wilson versions) are based on the appearance of Mark Gruenwald, an editor at Marvel Comics who was the main guy that kept all the continuity straight for ALL the Marvel comics from the 1980s-mid '90s. He was the guy who would tell writers "Captain America can't guest start in 'Spider-Man' this month because the Avengers are in space right now" or "you drew Iron Man with the Avengers in this panel but he just quit the team," stuff like that. So of course they based the guy that keeps the timeline straight on the guy that actually kept the timeline straight. A really cool homage.

Yep He Who Remains is a Variant of an extremally beloved Marvel character known as Nathaniel Richards "Kang the Conqueror" who has the ability to travel between space and time, Basically Doctor Who if the Doctor was a Conqueror and the TARDIS was a yellow chair. The Prime version of this character, Nathaniel Richards came from the 30th century of Earth-6311, a reality where humanity never went into the dark ages. The statue you saw in the TVA depicts the classic version of his character wearing the green robes, this is how Kang the Conqueror looks in the comics. Then you have the "Variants" of his character who all directly divergence from Earth-6311 where there lives take differant turns and shape his Variants. He Who Remains is a Variant of this character and he even showed the Multiversal War where he fought his Variants.

Ah yes, the introduction, officially, of Kang the Conqueror to the MCU. He Who Remains was the variant of Kang that won the multiversal war and prevented another one from ever happening by creating the TVA and keeping the multiverse from existing by pruning the divergent timelines that could give rise to another Kang.

You by no means have to wait until Antman 3 to start Season 2 of Loki. As someone who's watched all of Season 2 and Antman 3 there only connected by a Variant of a character. Loki Season 2 can be watched right after the first Season but it's really up to you if you want to dive into Loki Season 2 first or wait until you reach the Season after a few other shows and movies.

One thing I really liked was that the fact He Who Remains had guided them to that point explains what seemed to be the badly-justified rescue of Loki and Sylvie from Lamentis. The best reason anyone could think of up till then was that somehow the two variants falling for each other had caused the nexus event, when it was simply that them surviving was part of his Sacred Timeline, and if they had died there it would have ruined the correct flow of time since they would never have reached him.

At the very end of Loki season 2 there is a line that references something that happens in a movie but it's very subtle. I don't think it would technically spoil anything. Not sure what anybody else has told you or what you plan on doing, but I think you're safe to watch season 2 if you want to. I do think it's still always best to watch in release order

Hey, Emme! It is advisable to segue right into Season 2 which picks up immediately where this episode ends. The Season 2 finale kicks off everything that comes after and is a real gamechanger. Nothing would be spoiled by doing this and everything that comes next in the MCU makes more sense because of it. We open by hitching a ride on the Sacred Timeline to the Temple at the End of Time! Miss Minutes offers a Faustian bargain to the Lokis but the pair refuse a SCRIPTED 'best of all possible worlds'! Four statues but one is rubble. Who was the Fourth and who obliterated it? Enter JONATHAN MAJORS in IMMORTUS-mode as 'He Who Remains' chewing the apple of knowledge and all the scenery with it! Lol. Rebuffed by the Lokis, Miss Minutes brings some Forbidden intel straight from HWR as a Plan B. B-15 exposes the pursuing Minutemen to the truth behind Ravonna and themselves! Ravonna was a principal at FDR High in Ohio the year of the Snap! Mobius confronts Ravonna and he goes down like a chump! She departs through a portal with her Forbidden Knowledge in search of free will. What has HWR directed her to do? HWR shows the Loki pair the scripts of their lives, a drama he has authored! HWR tells the tale of 31st-century scientist NATHANIEL RICHARDS, the Council of Kangs, the belligerence of the Conqueror, the Multiversal War, how Alioth ended it and the reason bad things happen to good people. Theory out there that the season finale episode of each show (Wanda and Loki) synchronized to the same time - 27 minutes in. Playing them together shows that once Wanda has embraced who she is and physically becomes the Scarlet Witch, there is rumbling at the end of time and He Who Remains is curious (and dare I say excited) at not knowing what was going to happen next.
