I know I'm very late to the party but you might be able to adapt the foam material they use for NeoPixel Lightsabers to diffuse the LEDs. Great build and very inpiring. Thanks for sharing!
@RogerYargen3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey, first of all: once again great work 👍 For the lighting Problem you could try LED Foam which is used by Cosplayers for their props and you could/should use an LED Strip with higher LED density to get an better lighting effect with lesser spots. Also you could use an arduino with an LED Panel, there are many options. Keep up the great work 👍
@0XxZachAttackxX02 жыл бұрын
Try sanding the hell out of the inside face of the crystal portion with really rough sand paper. Should diffuse the light pretty well, packing foam works great as well. Looks great can't wait to use this paint technique!
@CosminNeagu2 жыл бұрын
Instead of multiple little sources of light, you should've gone for one centralized source. Like one of those LEDs from flashlights. A big, difused LED will work better.

Love your props. As for the lights, I would try the flexible 3mm filament lights off of aliexpress. Unfortunately the wait time for them is two months to the US but I have had really good results with stuff like this.
@JoshuaZangari3 жыл бұрын
Frost the inside of the jewel really well by sanding, then shine the LED's into the polished edges of the jewel at key points. It should spread the light out more uniformly.

I don't know much about resin printers, I watch Uncle Jessy though, and I do have tons of other crafting experience. Anyway, I know how you can get the perfect color, that you can see though, while still discharge light, so it bonces around as it should. After your print is done, and your ready for painting, paint some Airbrush Medium, on the back. As it is drying, take a paper towel and dab it dry. The more medium you use, the cloudier it will get. That couldy behavior will bonce the light around. But your medium will fight back in trying to dry clear. The result is kinda like Carnival Glass.

Great job man ... for the green light what about you sanding from the back of it? i think it will do the job
@black631003 жыл бұрын
very nice work, do you have the possibility to make a base for Sylvie crown ? thanks
@RichardThompsonCA3 жыл бұрын
I believe the problem is that the green plastic is too transparent and needs to be more translucent. Not sure what the solution would be to that though. You could sand blast the inside of it but I suspect that won't be enough (based on past personal experiences). You could try a misting spray coat of the paint on the inside, in the same color green (something with some white in it, to increase opacity and dispersion).

There is something called a LED defuser on amazon that make the light spread out throughout the strip

a great build ! did you try to diffuse light with translucent paper ? on sanding the inside of the gem ? or add a shape made in white PLA (only 2 layers) ?

I have to say I've always hated the plasticky, overly clean look of Loki's crown in movies and the way you added texture to it looks fantastic. And about the emerald, while I'm not any kind of expert on this stuff and only watch these for the craftmanship, I *think* you might find the right type of diffusing plastic by salvaging some from an old tv/monitor since they have that type of material to diffuse the backlight 🤔
@PropsNstuff3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for saying that Sir😁 That’s a big compliment for sure👌🏼 I have an old CRT tv out in the garage. So I will look into that🧐🧐 Have an excellent summer, cheers
