Unit will display the current battery voltage the second you hook it up to the Lokithor with the click of a button. Correction: In the video I say that the Lokithor J400 has a 12-month standby, in fact it has a 24-month standby. Just wanted to clear that up.

How do you know if it needs to be charged?

There are battery indicator lights on the unit on the left side of the LCD screen. It will tell you how high or low the battery level is.

They all light up, what does that mean?

@tomgalusha5201 When all the lights are lit up, that means it's Fully charged. When one light disappears, that means you have about 75% battery life, when there are 2 lights that disappear, that means you have 50% battery life left, and so on. Also, there are 4 lights color coated to tell you the battery life status. All 4 lights are color coated so that you know how low the unit is. The top 2 lights are green, showing good battery life, the next light is orange showing the battery life is getting low, the bottom light is red showing the battery life is about to be fully depleted.
