Look at how her right pinky HAS NO ROLL TO PLAY!!!!! So utterly Belgian! The gravity of her bow-the power, the beautiful, bold tone production-is by no means hampered by the way her pinky doesn’t begin to touch the bow! If you look as Ysaÿe, Thomson, Marsick, Musin, others, and their pupils after them, and finally Bobescu: the right pinky is usually tucked away, not touching the bow. Here she lifts it, very overtly avoiding the bow. Later in the clip, during the sequence, she has her pinky stretched out as far as possible on the bow, but that’s due to a feature of the music; but it’s so fascinating how deliberately her bow-hold follows Belgian tradition.
