For me, I was the guy/person she was singing about. In my marriage I took it out on my wife with strikingly similar scenarios spelled out in the song. Nothing she did satisfied me; I was unhappy and took it out on her at times. These lyrics put it into perspective what I put my ex through. It saddens me that I did that, but I have been making a living amends to her for 11 years (and will continue to do so). She had stuff on her side of the street, too. No matter who you are, relationships are hard, all we can do is face the music, try to get better, and not repeat our shit behaviors.
