As a Graves main, using E>Q while reloading ammo or Auto>Q>E can cancel the animation of Q and have your Q shooting after E ends. Besides, the animation of Q>W is faster than W>Q and Q2 will be easier to on-hit. These are significant in laning.

I have 2 Mill mastery points with graves mainly playing him mid. Back in s8 - s10 every time I picked graves mid I would always get reported after the game for trolling. Even if I was carrying. It was so tough to get in games but now it seems people don't care. In S9 I was OP with graves. I think I avged 21/4/11 when playing mid. Out of 4000+ games. Also the reason why I played him mid was becuz I got very bad anxiety playing jungle. Getting flamed and spam pinged was my worst nightmare so I always avoided it. But now it's gotten a bit better, I can play jg without worrying about getting flamed these days.

Graves jg counters fiddle but i feel like Graves mid gets countered by fiddle because fiddle will usually have already cleared raptors before anyone is lvl 2 and fiddle can just fear the Graves and walk away. Also the armor from Graves E doesn't matter to fiddle.

Try doing a mix to get used to it. I build eclipse first into crit. (Collector lord Dom IE and then a situational item) and it works quite well top lane

The reality is that Renekton is one of those champs like GP, Azir, Ryze, Kalista that's turbo nerfed because of competitive mostly for his laning phase and you shouldn't touch him unless you actually love Renekton that much. But just some quick tips, get a good idea how much fury you gain per enemy for Q's and E's, because you can surprise enemies in a big enough minion wave. Also, know what you want to accomplish before you commit. You are scary with 50 fury, but much less scary without. So plan in advance, do you need to heal off this wave or do you need to save it to threaten them so they can't fight you because empowered W? Last, you are most scary with a jungler near you. Learn how to dive with your empowered W, call up your jungler and get used to those situations and what abilities you have to outplay to make them happen (Wukong W, Jax E, Fiora W, etc.). As for build, you can't go wrong with Goredrinker Steraks, usually you get tank items after but the tanky damage items like Cleaver and Deaths Dance are also fine to pick up. Last don't sleep on Abyssal mask as one of these options, it actually does help your damage quite a bit.

The biggest issue I have with graves mid is that he just builds a vampiric scepter and then is irremovable from lane with poke/shoving etc. If he couldn't lifesteal so hard, I'd have no issue.

Leaving a comment under every video until an Aurelion Sol guide comes out - video 8 What's funny is that I've seen this pick a few times before, and even then I was convinced that he is a strong midlane champion. Not only does he have some real high burst, but he also got featured in a SkillCapped video about off meta picks (alongside other champs like Vi mid), which shows that he always had a ton of strength in mid. But of course, it only gets popularity when the Koreans start doing it, because we really like copying their homework, and you only make it easier, which we appreciate. The reason why Graves mid is so good right now is the same reason why Renekton and Nocturne were great midlaners too. They beat squishy melees with no counterplay. And I find it funny how these picks just keep on coming and Riot nerfs them without addressing the reason why these weird midlaners need to exist. Graves in particular especially likes going up against melee champs, but if there is a ranged guy misplays a lot and eats Graves' damage, then Graves can still snowball somewhat reliably on them, though it should take a bit more effort. The guide was fairly good and straightforward. Graves is a perfect example of a medium difficulty champion, having a few combos and skillshots, along with the whole ammo thing (but that reloads a lot faster than Jhin, so it's easier to manage), and of course the minion blocking on the shots, which can really mess you up if you forget about it. I'm not really someone who plays a lot of Graves, but the video left me with a pretty good understanding of how he is supposed to play, and it will prevent me from getting surprised by his shenanigans if I will get him as my opponent (which is pretty much why I follow this channel - gotta see into the mind of the OP champ). There's just two thing that I would like to point out: 1. The reason why autos can do so much damage is his passive. It basically makes his autos work like a mini Ashe volley, except that getting hit by multiple bolts will actually increase the damage, causing his autos to deal 199.91% AD damage at point blank range. (Which gets increased a bunch more if he buys crit, cus of the bonus damage and two extra bolts. Buuuut the builds of these challengers don't include much crit, so that isn't relevant) 2. Smoke screen messes with point and click stuff the most (including auto attacks). The reason why is because you can't click on anything outside the smoke screen, so if you want to Nasus wither their backline, or just fire at them from a distance as Senna, well, you can't. Using the smoke will be annoying for everyone ofc, but keep the point and click ranged stuff in mind and prioritize those. It also works better against immobile champs cus they have a harder time exiting the zone.
