I joined the fashion in 2009/2010 when sweet lolita was THE thing. I learned pretty quickly that I liked looking at sweet prints more than I liked wearing sweet prints lol

That seems to have been pretty common during that era, haha!

I remember being a teenager and looking at those and other dresses, I dressed goth,punk, skater,Victorian Goth, raver, cyber goth back then and I'm changing my wardrobe to pink, I want an office type job and remembered the blouses i always appreciated the look and wanted some gothic Lolita outfits for the winter and still do just now for goth night

I totally get wanting to buy pieces ASAP, but I wish I spent more time buying basics (blouses, socks, accessories) before wanting to become a lifestyler. I got burnt out very quickly 😪 This time around, I will be stocking up on basics first and snagging deals on pieces when I catch them.

Always a great idea! And the smaller pieces end up going a long way, too!

Royal Princess Alice has some amazing nurse lolita releases. Nurse Lolita is a thing, but it HAS to be done right. Same with military Lolita. Military can be amazing if done right.
@diamondthestorm Жыл бұрын
I actually really like Military Lolita! But I don't often see that one done poorly by people who understand it well. Nurse is SO often just an anime costume, which is disappointing. 😭

An excellent beginner video. I have a bit of an off viewpoint, I have been wearing lolita for a few years now and make as many dresses as I buy. I make matching accessories for my dresses and don't mix and match at all, once a dress has a match its a set for life. Versatility is great but its also fun to find the perfect match and keep using that match 😊
@diamondthestorm2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! I think there's nothing wrong with that, either! In fact, it's fun when you find the perfect pair after a lot of accessory hunting!

Right now I'm focusing a lot on sweet style in primarily pink and red, but I do want to start branching out to some more colorways like lavender. I think those colors work well together.

I’m newish into this fashion and I made all my dresses i lean classic/ country/ casual… haha I have 3 main pieces that are all different colours. One is blue, one is bluish green and one is brown. I have white and brown blouse looking to make an ivory blouse soon and they go with all three main pieces so I can already be versatile even though I have more than one colour of dress.. I guess it’s not the colour that you should stick to, but the colour story of your overall wardrobe. I also think the blouse in your preferred colour is more important than the dress, because that’s the thing your going to wear most often the dress can switch around. The blouse is the base of multiple outfits so you better like it
@lovelasnow Жыл бұрын
I started by planning my colour scheme, since I wanted to go into sweet since I like toy prints I chose 2 main colours blue(favourite colour) and pink (easiest colour to find). I’ll be honest I started by buying whatever fit and while I have a usable amount of blouses and accessories they weren’t my focus since I decided earlier that I like OPs (no I can’t find any) and casual lolita. Well I have mostly skirts and Lolita appropriate hats. At least I was a lolita at heart for enough years to have specific dream pieces and only going for them if I spot them on budget. Lolita is now my casual dress next to general cute fashion😊

I think a lot of people think they're into Lolita when they're usually into more Kawaii Fashion in general, which is completely fine, too! I think I need more general Kawaii clothes, too!

This was so helpful. I’ve been admired the fashion from afar since I was 13 but now I’m just starting to get into it in my 20s. So far I’ve been incorporating parts of lolita/inspired by lolita into my “normie” clothes (like a petticoat under a non-lolita dress or skirt) while I save the money and work up the courage to wear a full coord. I really admire classic lolita, but aspects of country and sweet are really cute to me too!! Thank you so much for this video!

That's good to hear! Love seeing new Lolitas finally jump into the fashion after liking it for a while! Hope the time will come soon when you can have a full coord! :D

When I started to wear lolita when I was around 16 back in 2008, Sweet lolita was everywhere (!!!) I tried it and it wasn't really for me, I loved it but it just didn't suit me. I went over completely to EGL (elegant gothic lolita) since it was dark but still had that kind of classic lolita feel to it. Absolutely felt 100% like myself and back then no one in my area dressed like lolita so I was alone for a few years until I stumbled across some sweet lolitas and classic lolitas popping up and we created a small little community with meet-ups ♥ Sadly as I started to work fulltime in my early 20s at a place where I couldn't where my own clothes I kind of stopped completely cause I just didn't have time, energy or anything for it on my free time.. now I'm 32, still have all my dresses and am highly thinking of trying them on and maybe start to wear it casually again ♥

i bought lucky packs from infanta, now i have a pink, blue, brown and greenish-grey-blue (its considered green on lolibrary😅) jsk + another green jsk and a dark red skirt (i wore those 2 casually) and i really do not have anything for a full coord 😂 so, the first thing i bought was the skirt and i tried to purchase something to coord it with but even though it looked matching on picture, it really wasnt irl trial and error so to say ^^

Let's see when I started, the first things I bought were wine red Mermaid Song by Soufflesong, blue Halloween Party in Transylvania by Soufflesong, and red Afternoon Tea from Glittertale. (Within a few months, along with blouses in white, black, and ivory, and the matching headbow for Mermaid Song) I definitely think as far as accessories go I've always done well because in and out of lolita I wear a fair number of them and I generally keep a bold/jewel tone color scheme, so despite differences in theme I was still able to put a few coords of some sort together for each. A few years later, I still only have 8 main pieces, but a growing wealth of accessories, a few more suitable pairs of shoes, things like that. I definitely think I'm somewhere in the Metamorphose description of lolitas who wear their own style "regardless of genre" , but one thing I have kept very consistent throughout (apart from the one pastel green skirt i couldn't resist 😂) is that my colors are bold/jewels and the brown dress I have matches most all of the accessories I had already from complementing the dark reds and tea themes! I have a v low budget and an obsession with finding and making accessories with no fear of mixing metals as long as i distribute them evenly, however so mileage may vary XD

why is brand important? i see lots of seasoned lolitas crapping on people who do not have brand dresses. (im new to lolita)
@diamondthestorm4 ай бұрын
It's not really important. Brand dresses tend to be much better quality than off-brand. But there are many gorgeous off-brand dresses and reputable Indie brands that you can purchase from! Most of my wardrobe is from Taobao!
