And people will say they beat an aging Loma but that's only because he is aging. The mans 37 at 135. Hes had 400 amateur fights. Hes definitely at the very end... Loma is objectively old especially for his weight class, is he not? Statistically and common sense says, he's old. "Father time is undefeated" you guys say all the time. This is corny to say age doesn't matter selectively. Please tell me with a straight face that 2024 Loma is the same as 2020 or whatever Loma, I dare you. Recognizing that something isn't a factor isn't an excuse. Did Errol's accidents affect him? Surely. Is it an excuse? No. Is it a factor? Yes. Have some nuance.

You sound like you're making excuses. Floyd Mayweather dominated elite competition at 36. Nonito Donaire dominated elite competition in the lower weight division at 36. Manny Pacquiao dominated elite competition at 36. None of these fighters used their age as an excuse. Therefore, I will not accept any excuses for Loma. All greats should be held to the same standards, which is also known as objectivity!

Acknowledging that Loma is old, Spence's eye was messed up, Joe Joyce can't avoid a left hand, X fighter is coming off an injury, isn't an "excuse" it's a factor that affected the fight. Let's be serious 90% of boxing analysis is weighing these factors, no? Nuance is recognizing that these things affected the fight but they didn't decide it. Many factors affect fights but aren't excuses. Excuses are blaming things that didn't decide the fight or were in the fighter's control. "My ring walk suit too heavy" had no affect on the fight. Froch blaming a volcano. Sergio's hair distracted Cintron. Eubank scared of hypnosis. Those are actual excuses. To your examples, exceptions don't make the rule they're exceptions for a reason.
