Increíble actuación de Carlos Sainz, líder del rally y por tanto campeón del mundo hasta prácticamente el final de la prueba, solo los problemas mecánicos de su Celica, que mostró una tremenda falta de fiabilidad mecánica en toda la segunda parte de la temporada, le dejaron si un título que tenía más que merecido. Menudo Dios del volante.
