Just discovered Jimmy Chamberlin (not a Pumkins fan) and I’m blown away. What an incredible musician.

I've always loved Jimmy! Such a tremendous talent. And he's been through a lot. I'm glad he's still with this world and he looks healthy and great and happy!

Wow, Jimmy! I’m so happy to see that you’re featured. I love your work. Gish was a huge influence on my development in the early 90’s.

Gish doesn't get enough credit for what it was. The first album to blow me away that completely, and 30 years later has weathered so well! Pixies 'Surfer Rosa' is in the same league for me

Jimmy, my 90's -> now drum hero. He brought Jazz dynamics and chops to rock. So great to see him loving life and hearing his in depth and well spoken views on music. Thanks Lombardi, Jimmy and all the crew!

This was the most amazing interview and such a next level feeling about the history of the great drummers and giving homage to Richard Bailey for one. And the ride pattern discussion and jimmys unbelievable width of what he can play too at such a high level. For this drummer of 40 plus years man this made my day!

It's interesting, Jimmy makes a comment about a good drum part sounding simple on the surface, but when you really listen it has a lot of depth. That's exactly how i'd describe most of his Pumpkins stuff. So much finesse in his drumming and if you don't listen closely, you just won't hear it.... also it doesn't help that his drum parts are often competing with layers and layers of heavily distorted guitars

His playing on the quiet stuff is so stunning. Like his triples on the ride and the grace of how whir moves

yes, in some cases, but there’s also somgs like geek usa where the drums are front and center and just blow you away

now that was awesome. As a drummer I feel the same way about lyrics. I have to see them and I have to know what the story is about. How can we accompany the song without being fully invested. Such great advice

I've been a fan of Jimmy Chamberlain my entire life. I remember hearing rhinoceros in 5th grade or so, then waiting and waiting for it to play on the radio again. I'm now 38 years old, and I record rock songs in the bedroom. I've gotten fairly decent at drum programming, and I have to say a lot of the things I program sound like Jimmy Chamberlain. It's the weirdest thing. As much as I hate to say it, I don't believe the smashing pumpkins would have been as successful without that monster behind the skins.

I think WPC would agree with you to be fair, he’s called Jimmy the best musician in the band many times. The two of them together are magic.
@brewcewillis83282 жыл бұрын
@@deViIle I agree. There's a video somewhere of them playing that song snail in the early nineties, and there's an instrumental section where they both go off together, and it's SO GOOD. The two of them together is really something special.

10.00 is a very important tip for drummers. Nfl got Brandon marcellus to do a video on Barry Sanders playing. The quote was Barry's Style defines his craft. Same with Jimmy c.
