I had a Lomo LCA in Venice and every frame is super sharp and the colors are excellent with Kodak Gold 100 film.

Finally a fair review of this lens. I bought it a couple of years ago because I wanted that focusing mechanism. I've already got the LC-A+ but I wanted it on my MP which I have more control over the exposure. And I can also use this on my other digital cameras. It's expensive for a toy lens but it fits a niche.

It seems a FUN lens. If you limit your post processing to colours, shades, etc. Leave the typical lens distortions alone.

I've had my copy for a few years now and love it for portrait work. It brings something a little different to the table, and something that you can't get with other glass of a similar focal length.

Thanks for your comment. Interesting to use this lens for portrait work as well. I can imagine that it brings something special to the table.

The aperture tab on mine fell off, never to be found again. Makes me worry if the focus tab will do the same thing. At least the aperture can still be adjusted w that thin ring around the lens.

The way the focus works on this lens is so fascinating. Neat to hear that it it's more of a soft-stop than a hard-stop for each of the preset zones, it seems like it'd be really fun to use. If there was a wider APS-C equivalent lens out there with this style of handling, I'd probably try to pick one up.

I have been having a lot of fun with this on both a Leica film camera and my Fuji X-Pro2. The only thing I wish they would do is improve the design of that focus scale, the sticker takes something away, and add some knurling to make mounting easier. Nice sample shots here and you did a great job of explaining the positives of this lens.

Hello, I’ve ordered the lens to use it with myFuji XE3, that I pair with vintage or new manual lenses only. It should be fun!

Weird times. People use a 6000 Euro camera with a 250 Euro lens to recreate the look of a 40 Euro point and shoot camera.
@AnalogInsights2 жыл бұрын
Well, I see your point but my Leica M6 was purchased long before all the hype and expensive re-editions. It cost 950 Euro used back then.
@davyboyo2 жыл бұрын
It is funny in a sense. But remembering that the m6 is desired for the pleasures of it's use and the prestige of its status. Using this lens doesn't change either, and if you can genuinely afford to have 6k tied up in a toy, then what's 250 bucks? The m6 is hilariously overvalued today, it's a little reminiscent of the situation with certain rolex models selling used for way higher than their retail value. I guess people with wealth feel they should demonstrate it by spending frivolously whilst others starve. Weird times indeed, but I'd say it's always been the way of the world sadly.

@@AnalogInsights Wow, you've been very lucky, Max ! Nowadays, it's more like 2500 EUR...

And more weird, the M6 is the most over-hyped M Mount Leica since the M3. I'd rather get a different model, *if* i could afford it. 🙂

I almost bought one when it came out, but it seemed like people that had one didn’t like them very much. Most of the Lomo lenses I really want are always out of stock and hard to find second hand, but these have always been super-abundant. Which says something.

I bought this lens and tried it on my Leica M246. The lens was super soft and I noticed the barrel wasn’t even straight. The focus position sticker had fallen off during shipping. Very poor build quality. I ended up returning it to Lomography.

I like the vignetting and the look of the pictures made with an Olympus XA, but too many defaults with this Lomo lens I think... 😕 Mounting it on a Leica is a bit of a heresy! And the price is also very expensive for what it is... For 100€ less, you can find the excellent Canon 40mm f/2.8 STM. Is there no one to make such a good little lens for Leica?

Canon made the 35 f2-8 Serenar LTM lenses that can easily be adapted to M mount. These were tiny sharp character lenses.

Isn't it cynical to "commemorate" the 1972 Munich Olympics, of all things, which caused so much suffering and which is once again in the headlines these days, with something as profane as a lens? And is it necessary to celebrate the piece on this channel?
@danbuchman74972 жыл бұрын
I originally thought that as it brought back some bad memories watching events unfold, however; I don’t see any problem with going to the venues and photographing/remembering what occurred. Those terrible events shouldn’t totally erase all the hard work & creativity of the organizers, artists, designers & craftsmen. Their work should not be punished by the acts of terrorists. I want to remember the positive, not to stick my head in the ground, but there were also amazing performances. If we allow the terrorists to hijack the event and it’s all that matters, then in my opinion, they win. Screw them, applause to the people who put this together.
