Good to know I wasnt the only one unimpressed by its daytime performance. It does seem to produce softer detail when up against the beloved Cinestill. Thanks to your video, I now see that it excels in specific areas! Night photos, or taking it to a dusty ghost town(we have those in AZ, could make for a fun western shoot)! At first glance, I highly disliked this film, now im curious about the possibilities! Thanks for persuading me to give this film a second chance!

Hope you capture some good shots with it. Yeah I think AZ is the perfect place to test it out more. I also liked how it did in golden hour in Las Vegas. Could make for some great shots where you are. Cheers!

I think we both came to the same thoughts. I hated Metropolis when I first shot it. but I have grown an appreciation for Metropolis in specific settings. Currently I am shooting a roll with a mist filter to see if I get a monochrome Cinestill look.

Nice! Yeah it's my goal to find an application for each film I shoot. Resetting expectations and understanding the strengths and staying within the limitations. Can't wait to check out your mist filter shots Mike!

So one thing I had as a takeaway from shooting metropolis myself and I mention this in my #filmstocktryouts , is that Metropolis does much better shot in urban areas where the scene is busier, with lines & architecture. Something I saw from your first roll (the roll you didn't like) is that alot of the shots are more outside of the city aesthetic, more open and less buildings. I think that might be why you're not so keen on that first rolls images.

That's an interesting take. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I shoot it. As I mentioned though overall I like the color palette of the film at night. I'd have to experiment more in the day to see what I like with it. May do some more street shots with it. Thanks for watching!

Bangers! I like this film, it feels nostalgic and dystopian at the same time

Yeah for sure it has this unique look and mix of feeling like a western and cyberpunk I think! My next video is about Lomo Redscale at night and that film especially looks post apocalyptic! Thanks for watching!

Haha I just published me thoughts & results from shooting Metropolis in one of the world's biggest; Shanghai. It's an interesting film for sure and I think it has it's use cases, but I'm very keen to see your results from night shooting. About to hit play.

looks lovely. Did you compensate on developing time for shooting in 25/50 iso?
@NathanTrimbach8 ай бұрын
Thank you! No changes to development (push/pull). Just did as normal. I have found that color negative is very forgiving for overexposure and it's especially needed at night. Lomography doesn't publish data sheets with reciprocity like Fuji and Kodak do. And I have found overall they need more light especially at night. Hope that helps!

Also have you tried Lomo purple with a warming or yellow filter in a place with lots of vegetation

No I haven’t yet but that’s something I should try when it’s warmer here. Thanks for the tip!
