We trashed our railway heritage massively during the 1960's. Our aside the Beatles, Free love, flower power and all that. We did more damage to our Tiens and cities during that decade than the Luftwaffe managed to in the 1940's. We also completely trashed our railway heritage - a rich legacy the Victorians left us. For what? So we could make all our towns be built around the car. Pushing people into having little choice but to drive everywhere. Trams and Trolley buses were got rid of, tram lines dug out, railways ripped up, a greener way if travelling swapped for cars that ran over n leaded petrol. Many of the congestion problems that our towns and cities suffered in later decades and still do today, goes back to what was done in the 1960's. Yea, it likes to be remembered as the 'swinging sixties' where cars gave people freedom, and the cult in of the individual was born (not in the 80's btw). But the truth is it brought much destruction with it. Many buildings from the 60's have not lasted and ended up being pulled down during the first two decades of the 21st century. Music is about the only thing that endures from that decade, pretty much everything else to do with the 60's has either fallen by the wayside or is no longer in fashion.

London was a better place then, no ugly buildings obscuring the tower and saint Pauls.

My parents moved to Melbourne Australia in 1960 from London, my mother was always homesick for London and my Dad said, your much better off in Australia, I'll have to visit one day to see why my mother loved London so much?

You won't see anything at all. The London of today is no longer the London that your mother knew

I have had 67 fantastic years in London and sadly your Parents moved just before London exploded in The Mid 1960s as was the World's Epi-Centre for Music, Theatre, Arts, Fashion and Photography. Please put in "London 1967" on KZbin search to give you a flavour but the heart of London i.e. INNER London is TOTALLY different now as most British have left for Outer London and beyond.

The James Bond film, "Goldfinger," was probably in cinemas basically around the world. The time frame must've been between the Innsbruck 1964 Olympic Winter Games and the Tokyo 1964 Summer Olympics. That same year's World's Fair was bound to get underway in Queens, New York.

It’s about time that the self serving, snout in the trough politicians who have worked so hard to destroy our great country were held personally responsible for their actions. This looks back to a time when government and politicians acted with honour. Not like Tony or Dave, two former PMs who put self before service.

"A time when government and politicians acted with honour" It must be a different 1964 then that effectively saw the government brought down due to the Profumo affair. Politicians weren't really any more honourable then. They just didn't face the scrutiny they do now.

@terrypearson77873 жыл бұрын
Hi, Basil. Thanks for viewing the film. I am really sorry to admit that I can't remember where I sourced the music. I made a point of only using the audio which I used when I made the film back in 1964 and it must have been taken from an LP which I no longer own - otherwise, I would have been able to trace it. Sometimes, KZbin automatically recognises and adds relevant information re soundtracks but in this instance, that hasn't happened. Please accept my apologies for being unable to answer your query.

@@terrypearson7787 Thanks for getting back so soon and so elaborately! I am a bit of a Ted Heath devotee (the bandleader, not the PM), but it doesn't sound at all like one of his recordings, and neither like Johnny Keating's. Dankworth, would he ring a bell? Well, anyway, I enjoyed the film and the music, so let's be thankful for small mercies.
@terrypearson77873 жыл бұрын
@@basilpeewit3350 You're very welcome. All I can be sure of is that the recording must date from pre-1964. It's strange because it's not a genre that figures largely in my own collection - I tend to go for (even) older music - that's why it's puzzling me as it must have been in my possession at the time! Thanks for subscribing - hope you find one or two interesting odds and ends in my motley selection of stuff!

Who do you think financed and backed Brexit? London is the money laundering hub of this planet and all the billionaires and corrupt politicians really feared that EU laws would impose transparency on to the London financial market. Now the fiesta really starts. Ordinary people can buy a house? And Brexit makes that happen? You are a born comedian. A real funny man.
