It was the same with the George Floyd protests, only a minority actually protested, whereas the bulk would just exploit the opportunity to create chaos and make money. Recently you also had the riots in France after the death of a Moroccan-French teenager at the hands of Police.

This is the issue nowadays, gangsters with no regard for human life commit crimes and when they get shot by the police suddenly there's an outcry and people cry racism, they say it doesn't justify the murder but the same guy is probably responsible for many other people's death, yet again, it doesn't matter to them

I still remember this unfortunate event. I lived in the centre of Tottenham when this happened. My mother and I were returning home when one of the buses on the high street ignited into a ball of flames due to multiple Molotovs being thrown , the police couldn’t allow us to pass through to get to our flat so they guided us and we ended up sleeping at a random friends house for the night till it was over in the morning

The London Riots turned into the English Riots of 2011, since rioting did spread across England only. Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham and Liverpool were the main cities of England going at it. People in Nottingham tried burning down the largest Police Station. People in Brum were shooting at Police Helicopters and all sorts.

I'm the first to criticise the police, but in terms of their use of deadly force against the public, I really don't think the modern police force deserve it. Stephen Lawrence's death was a long time ago now and the police have learned from it. If you look at all the deaths at the hands of UK police officers since the turn of the century, you'll notice a few things. Firstly, there are hardly any of them. This is all relative, of course, as if you compare it with the United States it looks insignificant, but maybe there are other police forces out there with lower numbers. However, there's been 11 deaths since 2023, which were: 1 )Helen Holland, an 81 yr old tragically killed in a motorcycle accident by a police escort. 2) Eight different people who were armed with either a knife or gun; all completely justifiable. 3) A man called William Cameron died in police custody - admittedly is a bit dodgy but doesn't seem to be much information on what happened. 4) Finally, Chris Kaba who you mention in the video. The officer might be facing criminal charges, so understandably we don't know all the facts. What does seem apparent is that Chris was unarmed when he was killed. However, it's also come to light since then that the police had reason to believe that Chris was involved in criminality (indeed he may have been planning a murder); the police had reason to believe he might be armed at the time and there is also suggestions that Chris was actively trying to run over police at the time he was shot. So since 2020, that's one contentious death (William Cameron) and we are not sure yet about Chris Kaba. I find it very hard to believe that police officers killed him because he was black. The police are not infallible however and make mistakes. So, I can appreciate that UK police try to use deadly force as a last resort, but if you have intel that someone might be armed, and especially if he was actively trying to run them over, I can see how that's not always going to be possible. So, the second thing you'll notice is the majority are completely justifiable. If you go back to the 2010s, you find the exact same thing. Apart from one death where someone swallowed drugs he was carrying and the police let him die in custody, as they did not implement procedure property, the rest were people again armed with guns or knives, all completely justified... And then there's Mark Duggan. He may or may not have had the gun in his hand the moment the officers pulled the trigger. The police may or may not have covered that up by planting the gun far away. Who knows... For me though Mark Duggan's death was a (tragic, for Bandokay and the rest of his family) case of 'fuck around and find out'... or 'live by the sword, die by the sword...' How can people be up in arms when he had a gun on him when he was shot? What was he planning to use that gun for? This is clearly not a racist killing. Could the police officers have brought him into custody without killing him? Maybe, but I'd like to see anyone criticising the police for this do that, they would shit themselves face to face with an armed gangster. It was ruled a justified killing by the jury. The police is a fucking shambles in all sorts of ways, like that autistic kid who called one of them a lesbian the other day, it's disgusting, but I'm sorry the police just do not go around killing people willy nilly in this country. This is from someone who's been pepper sprayed by them and stuck on bail for a month, I do not like the police at all.
@donutking4u
@donutking4u Жыл бұрын
In my opinion what set the riots off was that the police tried to cover their tracks to cover murdering someone, they said they saw a gun in his hand when they didn't and then threw the gun meters away from the car, then when asked for answers they kept quiet. If they didn't make mistakes like lying about someone having a gun in their hand when it was in a box, then none of this would've happened. mistakes shouldn't happen, especially critical ones deciding someones life. its messed up, not that im sympathising with the victims but the riots caused problems and Grief to many people when it could have been avoided by telling the truth.

I was 11 at the time and we lived opposite a police station, so we were worried about people trying to burn it down. Me and my family went to live with my aunt further north for a couple weeks. We picked out which belongings we wanted to take with us - turned out there wasn’t much I owned that I actually felt I couldn’t live without 😅

Trevor, came for the same reason as the other looters, got banged one in the head and that's it, you take the risk you deal with the consequences

i was only a toddler when this happned but apperently shops in my local area were barricading. if something starts in London and spreads to croyden its likely going ot spread to Crawley too. Thankfully very little happened in Crawley

I was on my annual visit to Ireland to visit family during this time and that made me incredibly lucky because me and my immediate family were safe but I spent the rest of the holiday worrying that I wouldn't have a home to come back to because of the vandalism.

I remember this but to be honest, it was a really weird time for the area. I lived near the Chinese buffet joint on the High Street and e.ery night during the riots around 2-3am, you would see people (men) from the estates sell themselves for money ie sexual services. I realised later moving right in the centre of London right near Covent Garden that they do this every night but I associate the riots with this sad discovery.

Yeah sadly I noticed how young men from estates would sell themselves to people walking randomly by at 2-3am and then noticed it further when moving right near the centre. Made me realise that there is more to life that trying to act gangster and flex fake money, ultimately trying to educate yourself and getting a good productive job is the way forward.@@XtoCee

@Kn-ik8pt Because these were people from the estates, from the community. I never knew them personally but they sure were active enough to know who and what they did. It showed how many members of our community in particularly the ones that get in trouble, how desperate they actually are and how it is all hidden. Go on a night out in London near Covent Garden/TCR see for yourself.
