London Buses 1987-Routemasters at Baker Street & Marylebone Station's

Great vid, my Dad drove the number 1s sometimes (mainly Routes 53 and 177 though) as he worked at NX (New Cross) till the early 80s

That reversing clip, reminds me of a few times I've helped as a temporary banksman, including with Stagecoach through the back window, I know most of the signals! Just point out I was just an passenger on that Stagecoach bus, but that's why I'm quite popular like that.

Great video! Good to see the United Counties Plaxton Paramount go by at 2.57 I remember that livery from the time, it was quite short lived, before reverting back to the National Bus Company corporate coach branding. That colour scheme was part of an attempt to rebrand their long distance services under the 'Coachlinks' name. I think only United Counties had this scheme. Interesting bit of bus history caught on film there! 👍

No, a lot of the bigger LT garages seemed to never get on top of vehicle maintainance from the early 70s onwards.....I'm sure the Merlins, Swifts and Fleetlines had a lot to do with it!

Rover SD1 fails to proceed. Edit: I should have said that at this time the RMs were looking in a very much unloved condition. Radiator badges missing, dents and unwashed. Not to mention the clouds of fumes often seen.

There are some grubby buses to be seen here. And that's how I remember London in the 80s - dirty and run down a lot of the ime. The Tube. The streets. My school. A general scruffy decrepitude.

AEC engine idle heaven. Interesting shots of 1819 showing another advantage in having a clippie as a human reverse camera when you miss a turn! Would love to have attached one of my AEC wheel centre inkjet copies to that O/S wheel with the missing nut guard!!
