Welcome to Part 1 of a two part study of Stagecoach London's south-of-the-Thames subsidiary, SELKENT (an acronym for South East London & Kent). Although the Selkent name disappeared ten years ago, it survives on O-licences and tender submissions, and relates to buses working out of Bromley, Catford and Plumstead garages. The video was filmed over the period July to September 2021; unfortunately, I had finished filming before the transfer of route 160 from Arriva to Stagecoach in September, but there is plenty of coverage in my forthcoming Arriva London South video.
This video takes in routes 47, 53, 54, 61, 75, 96, 122, 124, 136, 146, 161, 177 and 181. It was filmed in the following locations: Anerley, Bexleyheath, Blackheath, Bromley, Canada Water, Catford, Chislehurst, Croydon, Crystal Palace, Elephant & Castle, Eltham, Grove Park, Keston, Lewisham, London Bridge, North Greenwich, Norwood Junction, Orpington, Shoreditch, Thamesmead and Woolwich. It's not an exhaustive list of places served but I hope you agree it gives a flavour of this company's operations in south east London.
Incidentally, at 09:31 you can see a bus at Woolwich carrying the Channel 4 advert that was very quickly banned after a deluge of complaints!
