Hi Mazzy , if you’re in the Tate Modern, I’m on duty as an “ Ask Me “ host from 12-14 p.m , so I’ll be happy to help and recommend any of the other shows , after the Yoko Ono , but there’s plenty of free floor collection art on display ( 2nd and 4th) , and a good restaurant on the 6th floor if you want a decent meal , with a view over the Thames . I’m sure you’ll enjoy the whole place and vibe , as there’s tons to see ! 🥂 Lester T

Thanks so much Mazzy very kind of you for taking the time and effort to share your experiences in London. I'm Irish born but have lived most of my life in Perth Australia. Before I retired twelve years ago my job frequently took me to London. Always enjoyed the experience. So much to see and do but a real conflagration of people from all over the world either visiting as you are or working there. As you noted Oxford Street is so busy it's not a place to stand and talk else you get run over by fellow pedestrians. A good friend of mine who lived in London for a few months in the 70's once said to me of his experience "wonderful place but the loneliest experience of my life".

The museums and art gallery's would be where I would spend most of my time while in London. Same with New York city... There sure was a lot of people out and about on the streets. It kinda reminded me of the 60s. Cheers.

Being a Londoner born and bred, I absolutely take it for granted. So interesting to get your perspective and romantic view of the city! You should visit the Hackney area, my mum was a headteacher of a school, the one and only Helen Shapiro was one of her pupils back in the early 1960’s, she was only 14 when she had her first record in 1961

Try to pay visits to Soul Brother Records (nearest tube station: East Putney on the District Line) and VDS (Vinyl Delivery Service) on Columbia Road, who specialise in Japanese pressings. Yo Yo Records, another great store, is a 5 min walk from VDS, on Hackney Road.
