It is! The most beautiful city on Earth, but then, I was born and raised on the outskirts so I'm biased! One of the few places where you can stand on a 200 year old bridge, looking at a 1,000 year old castle, with a 21st century skyscraper behind it!

The actual problem is the pedestrians. I had a couple run out in the road during a red pedestrian light in front of my car, the girl continued to run to the other side but the guy decided to freeze right in front of my car. The guy behind had to swerve to avoid hitting me. Everyone acts like they don’t have a brain, especially the foreigners

London in my personal opinion is the Washington D.C. of Western Europe, as well as England as a whole, the only difference is London is much bigger than D.C., the vibe and feel of England is still the same as the vibe and feel in D.C..

A journey I have made myself many hundreds of times! I have to say I wouldn't have taken the route you did, it seemed unnecessarily complicated to me, but probably all evens out in the end. Also, pretty poor lane choice at Redbridge roundabout there! You should have been well over to the right as you entered the roundabout, and you were in the motorway filter lane at one point!

So do people who live in Ilford call themselves Londoners? Just wanted to understand the scope of this metropolis better. Obviously, this is Greater London, but as you get away from the center, it doesn't seem to get any less urban for miles and miles.

That's interesting to me too. It seems Ilford is technically London, but I've heard people refer to themselves as being from Essex

I live pretty close to Ilford (actually more far out) but to answer your question, we do indeed call ourselves Londoners! However more older residents in the area may call themselves Essex residents as Ilford and the neighbouring areas didn't become a part of London until 1965 (when Greater London was created). Most people (especially younger people like me) will probably call themselves Londoners though. Hope this helps!

I was born just outside Ilford (Redbridge, just up from the big roundabout towards the end) and while Ilford is Essex technically (Essex postcode) most people there consider themselves Londoners.

Ilford is in London. But used to be part of Essex. Anything within the County of Greater London is typically regarded as London, so anyone from it a Londoner

London drivers are the worst in the country, notably, you. The sort of people who do 40 through a 50, hit the village, and continue doing 40 through the 30.
